Setting a goal is the easy part. Your mindset determines what happens when achieving it becomes difficult.

You can write down your goals, journal about them, and think about what you want, but eventually, you have to believe that you are capable of getting there.

Listen to the way you speak to yourself.

When an opportunity appears, do you think, “I can figure this out”?

Or does your mind immediately start finding reasons why you cannot?

Doubt will always give you excuses. A positive mindset gives you reasons to try.

And in a world where negativity can be so easy to find, the ability to remain positive gives you an advantage. It changes the way you approach opportunities, challenges, setbacks, and even the impossible.

Positive thinking does not mean pretending everything will be easy.

It means refusing to defeat yourself before you even begin.

Replace “I can’t” with “How can I?”

Sometimes making the impossible possible begins with simply believing that you can.

When buying a home, you will probably have to compromise somewhere.

The question is: where are you willing to compromise?

For some buyers, a shorter commute is worth sacrificing square footage. For a growing family, schools and neighbourhood may come first. Others may need the additional space to work from home or accommodate their changing lifestyle.

There is no universal right answer.

What matters is understanding which decision will have the greatest impact on the way you actually live.

Look beyond the listing itself. Consider your commute, the surrounding community, the space you will realistically use, and how your needs may change in the years ahead.

And remember, many things about a home can be improved over time. Its location cannot.

Know your priorities before you start searching, and making the right decision becomes much easier.

What do you want people to remember about you?

Your reputation is not created by what you say about yourself. It is built slowly, through the way you act, the way you treat people, and how consistently you show up.

There are three things I always come back to:

Treat people with respect.
Let your actions support your words.
Be consistent, even when nobody is watching.

Over time, those small choices become your reputation.

And eventually, your reputation becomes part of your legacy.

Success is important, but I believe how you achieve it matters just as much. At the end of the day, people may forget the numbers, the sales, or the accomplishments—but they will remember how you treated them.

Build something worth being remembered for.

Taking care of your clients is essential, but lasting success also depends on how you treat your colleagues.

A few weeks ago, a fellow real estate professional contacted me about a property I had sold two years earlier.

Instead of approaching the homeowner directly, they called and said, “Rita, those are your clients. I have a buyer for you.”

That one respectful phone call led to the sale of a property that was not even on the market.

They could have worked around me, but they chose to honour the relationship I had built with my clients. That decision demonstrated honesty, professionalism, and mutual respect.

Real estate is a people business. Your relationships with clients matter, but so do the relationships you build throughout your industry.

Treat people fairly.
Respect the work they have done.
Communicate honestly.
Protect your reputation.

The respect you show today may create an opportunity years from now.

Respect Builds Success ✨

You’ve built your business, and you’re in it for the long haul. 👊

We all know the importance of taking care of clients, but there’s another side to lasting success: building mutual respect with your colleagues.

Just a few weeks ago, one of my colleagues reached out about a property I sold two years ago. Instead of knocking on the homeowner’s door directly, they said:
“Rita, those are your clients, I have a buyer for you.”

That one call led to a sale, for a property that isn’t even on the market.

That’s what happens when you treat others in your industry with honesty and respect. Real estate is a people business, and your relationships are your reputation.

A successful business may begin with a transaction, but it grows through relationships.

Every client is a real person with genuine concerns, important milestones, a family, and a community. They are trusting you to guide them through a significant moment in their life.

Take the time to understand what matters to them.

Remember their milestones.
Support their community.
Celebrate their accomplishments.
Find meaningful ways to show that you care.

When you consistently go beyond what is expected, the relationship does not end when the transaction closes. That client can become one of your greatest supporters—someone who confidently introduces you to their friends and family.

After almost 40 years in real estate, I have learned that people may initially choose you for your service, but they remember you because of how you treated them.

Build the relationship, not only the transaction.

07/27/2026

It is easy to look around and compare your progress to everyone else’s.

But the most valuable comparison is not between you and someone else. It is between who you are today and who you were last year.

Track your performance. Review your results. Hold yourself accountable. Even improving by just 1% at a time can create a meaningful difference over the course of a year.

Whenever I make a presentation to a potential seller and they decide not to work with our team, I follow up and ask for honest feedback.

What did they like?
What could I have done differently?
What did they notice from their perspective?

Feedback is not always comfortable, but it gives me an opportunity to adjust my approach, strengthen my presentation, and improve for the next opportunity.

Do not measure your progress against someone else’s path.

The goal is simple: learn from your results and become better than you were the year before.

07/20/2026

You can treat someone like a transaction, complete the sale, and move on.

Or you can recognize that they are real people with genuine concerns, important milestones, families, and communities. People who are trusting you to help them through a major moment in their lives.

Remember what matters to them.
Support their community.
Celebrate their milestones.
Find meaningful ways to show that you care.

When you consistently go above and beyond, the relationship does not end when the transaction closes. That client can become one of your greatest supporters, someone who confidently refers you to their friends and family.

After almost 40 years in real estate, I can tell you that businesses may begin with transactions, but lasting success is built through relationships.

Show people that you care, and they will remember long after the sale is complete.
