Meet David LeBlanc — the person behind many of the most complex and difficult cases we handle here at Ferreira-Wells.
David has been with us since 2000 and has been our Managing Director and Senior Counsel for many years. He holds the RCIC-IRB designation — the highest licence to practice in Canadian immigration consulting — which means he can represent clients
before every immigration tribunal in Canada, including refugee hearings and appeals.
But credentials only tell part of the story.
Over his career, David has helped a woman restore her permanent residence after an absence of thirty-two years following serious family trauma. He helped a gay Palestinian man trapped in Gaza reach safety in Canada and reunite with his partner. He successfully represented a client who had already been failed by two large law firms. He arranged urgent protected relocation for a woman fleeing a violent former husband.
What these cases have in common is not complexity. It is urgency — and a refusal to accept that the first refusal is the last word.
Before immigration, David spent twenty years in senior roles at Fortune 500 companies, studied fine arts, trained as a chef, and spent fifteen years volunteering as a crisis and su***de intervention counsellor. In the early 1980s, he was an AIDS Buddy — one of the volunteers who sat with young men who were dying, at a time when many people in their lives had stepped away. He was a Big Brother for nine years.
He was born in Montreal on Bastille Day — July 14th, France's national holiday. He has one item on his birthday bucket list.
If you or someone you know is facing a difficult immigration situation — a refusal, an appeal, a humanitarian case, or something that feels impossible — David is the person to call.
