MISN: Mining Injustice Solidarity Network

MISN: Mining Injustice Solidarity Network MISN is a grassroots Toronto-based activist group that agitates, educates, and advocates against mining injustice in Canada and globally.

The Mining Injustice Solidarity Network (MISN) is a Toronto-based activist group that organizes to draw attention to and resist the negligent practices of Canadian mining companies, who comprise over 75% of mining businesses worldwide. In solidarity with affected communities and in response to their calls for support, we:
- Educate… the Canadian public on mining injustices in Canada and around the

world.
- Advocate… for stronger community control of mining practices, and in support of self-determination in mining-affected areas.
- Agitate… against corporate impunity and in support of substantive regulatory change.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us yesterday to disrupt PDAC and imagine a future beyond mining!

It felt powerful to join together in solidarity with communities across Turtle Island and around the world who are rejecting the violence and destruction of the Canadian mining industry and fighting for a better future.

Big thanks to all our amazing speakers and everyone who made this rally possible!

The world’s largest mining convention is coming to Toronto March 1-4, and these war profiteers (and the governments that they work hand-in-hand with) will again push forward their narrative that more weapons will keep us “secure.”

Mining companies make huge profits selling the raw materials to make weapons, and use those weapons against land defenders around the world.

We know that real safety comes from our communities. Join us to rally outside of PDAC and call for an end to the war machine.

The world’s largest mining convention is coming to Toronto March 1-4, and their PR machine is in high gear promoting their message that more mining is the solution to climate change. But mining companies are climate villains; extracting and processing minerals causes 26% of all global emissions.

The corporations that caused the climate crisis won’t be the ones to get us out of it. Join us to rally outside of their convention and call for the real climate solutions that our communities urgently need.

The world’s largest mining convention is coming to Toronto March 1-4, and their PR machine is in high gear promoting their vision of a future full of more colonization, more land theft and more violence against land defenders.

Join us to rally outside of their convention and call for the decolonial future we want and need.

Some important information for tomorrow’s art build!

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce our co-sponsor, !

Textile is a community arts organization and publisher based in Kitchener-Waterloo. Our work centres questions of public memory, creating work that fills in the gaps of what’s not being told, celebrated, or enshrined.

MISN and Textile have been collaborating for some time now, including Textile’s production of MISN’s poster on the mining and military complex. This partnership continues with the upcoming Mining and Militarism zine, launching in the next few months.

The mining industry and the governments that support and enable it are again using PDAC to advance their message that mining is the future. But we know that their future is more war, more climate change, more pollution, more violence against communities and land defenders, more colonization of Indigenous land, more corporate greed, more inequality and more of the violent colonial systems that define this industry.

Join us to imagine and call for a future outside of extractivist thinking. A future of Indigenous sovereignty. A future of real bold solutions to climate change. A future with no billionaires. A future of abolishing police, prisons and borders. A future imagined and built by and for communities. Land back. Defend land defenders. No war. More info: mininginjustice.org/pdac2026

The 2026 Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) conference in Toronto is looming, and we here at MISN would like to invite you to a teach-in & art build in preparation!

We will be discussing the links between mining and militarism, Canada’s role in the global mining industry, and why it is so critical for us to disrupt PDAC 2026! We would love to hear from you and your communities about your concerns around mining and militarism.

We KNOW that a future focused on mining is one which poisons the land and water, violates the sovereignty of Indigenous nations, and fuels Canadian military violence abroad.

We welcome you to join us on Saturday, February 21 3-7pm at the Greenpeace office (33 Cecil St.). We will be making both physical and digital art to prepare for our counterdemonstration at PDAC. Dinner & refreshments will be provided.

Please register via Google form in our bio!

Accessibility note: The art build will be located in the basement down two flights of stairs. Please contact us via [email protected] if you would like to participate but have accessibility concerns.

Keep an eye out for more info about our upcoming action against PDAC on March 1!
