Did you know that the City has an adequate heat by-law?
Landlords: rented or leased living accommodations must be heated to a minimum air temperature of at least 22 degrees Celsius or 72.1 degrees Fahrenheit from September 30 to May 31 of the following year as per the Adequate Heat By-law.
Tenants: before filing a complaint with the City, speak to your landlord to see if the situation can be resolved.

There is a province-wide move toward permitting secondary
suites will provide them with a source of additional income—an important consideration for seniors living on fixed incomes who want to age-in-place or young new homebuyers who need the rental income to help them purchase a home they could not otherwise afford. It also provides an opportunity for owners to accommodate aging parents or adult children in separate but close living arrangements.
