🚨 MANITOBA IMMIGRATION UPDATE communities🍁

A new federal public policy, signed on July 6, 2026, provides important relief for up to 2,700 temporary workers in Manitoba who are in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program pipeline.

The Manitoba Workforce Transition Bridge may allow eligible workers to obtain an open work permit while Manitoba continues assessing them for provincial nomination.

📌 Who may be considered?

Eligible candidates generally need to:

✅ Have previously been identified and screened by the Government of Manitoba
✅ Have been placed in the MPNP Expression of Interest pool by December 31, 2025
✅ Have an eligible Manitoba support letter issued by December 31, 2025
✅ Provide a letter of employment from their current employer
✅ Meet one of the qualifying work-permit or temporary-status situations under the public policy

Manitoba has also indicated that access to a new provincial support letter is intended for certain workers previously supported under the 2024 or 2025 temporary measures who remain employed full-time in Manitoba, have an ongoing job offer, maintain an active EOI profile, and have not yet received an MPNP nomination.

⚠️ Important

This is not a new general work permit program for everyone in Manitoba, and it does not guarantee provincial nomination or permanent residence.

Each applicant must still meet the specific eligibility, status and admissibility requirements.

📅 The federal public policy is scheduled to expire on December 31, 2027, unless revoked earlier.

Ontario has officially opened the Expression of Interest (EOI) Portal for the new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream.

Eligible candidates can now submit their EOI under one of the following pathways:

✅ Skilled Workers (TEER 0–3)
✅ Essential Workers (TEER 4–5)
✅ Self-employed Physicians

⚠️ Important:

Before you can submit your EOI, your Ontario employer must first register the business and submit the job offer through the OINP Employer Portal.

🍁 CANADA NEEDS WELDERS 🍁

Are you an experienced Welder interested in exploring opportunities in Canada?

Welders play an important role in industries such as:

Welding is also included among the occupations that may be considered under the Express Entry Trades Category. To qualify for a category-based round, an applicant must still meet the applicable Express Entry and category-specific requirements.

🚨 Ontario has introduced the new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream 🍁

The new stream is designed for eligible foreign workers with a qualifying permanent, full-time job offer from an Ontario employer. The employer must first create and submit the job offer through the Employer Portal, after which the applicant can register an Expression of Interest (EOI).

Ontario will rank candidates through its new EOI scoring system based on factors such as:

🏆 Main EOI Scoring Factors
💰 Hourly Wage: 0–15 points
💼 NOC / TEER Category: 0–9 points
🛠️ Occupational Category: 2–10 points
🇨🇦 Ontario Work Experience: 0–18 points
💵 Canadian Earnings History: 0–8 points
📄 Legal Status in Canada: 0- 10 points
🎓 Highest Level of Education: 0–10 points
🇨🇦 Canadian Education Credentials: 0–10 points
🗣️ Official Language Ability: 0–15 points
🌎 Knowledge of Both English and French: 5–10 points
📍 Job Location in Ontario: 0–15 points

For self-employed physicians, the hourly wage scoring factor does not apply.

Ontario’s redesigned system may consider applicants in a wide range of occupations, but eligibility alone does not guarantee an invitation to apply or nomination. Ontario may select candidates based on their EOI scores and current provincial labour-market priorities.

⏳ The new OINP e-Filing Portal and EOI system are expected to reopen later this summer. No exact reopening date has yet been announced.

IRCC has announced that it is pausing the intake of new applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) until further notice. Existing applications will continue to be processed, and the department plans to approve up to 15,000 people through the program in 2026.

What does this mean?

✅ Existing PGP applications will continue to be processed.
