After practicing Family Law for over 35 years I am pleased to be retiring at the end of November while I am still youthful enough to enjoy life with my loving and supportive family without carrying the stress of client files and being weighed down by that and firm management.
It’s been a great run and I am highly appreciative of my wife, my associates and staff who collectively brought me the success I have enjoyed to date, enabling me to take my foot off the pedal to now be able to simply enjoy the view. I’ve struggled over the past several years with health issues getting in the way of my practice obligations and I am looking forward to relaxing, some world travel, some reading and writing. I’m hoping to work up the courage to do some open mic stand up comedy at some point (as I loved doing comedy on stage during law school and at various law firm parties over the years)!
After running my last 3 week Supreme Court trial just over a year ago and despite a highly successful outcome in a case involving over $8 Million in assets, I knew I did not and should not put myself through that ultra high level of work and stress and decided at that time to finally listen to my wife’s pleas to hang up my court robes for good! It has still taken me a year to finally take the plunge into retirement and I’m glad to now be doing that.
So here’s to a happy stress free retirement (well almost - I am a full time step father to a wonderful, brilliant and complicated 12 year old step daughter who calls me “Sister” & keeps me on my toes)! I’m sure that being a dad (& sister) to a teenage girl will present an entirely new set of challenges but at least I can devote myself to that without work and clients getting in the way!
Cheers!
