Section B benefits can provide important early support after a motor vehicle accident, including approved medical treatment and, in some circumstances, income replacement or housekeeping assistance.

These benefits may be reduced or denied when an insurer decides treatment is no longer necessary or rehabilitative, relies on an insurer-arranged assessment, or does not have a complete picture of how the injury continues to affect your work and daily life.

A denial does not necessarily mean the decision is correct.

An injury lawyer can review the insurer’s reasons, assess the medical evidence, identify missing information, and challenge the decision where appropriate. In some cases, this can help an injured person have their Section B benefits reinstated.

When the benefits you rely on are in question, clear advice from someone you trust can help you understand what comes next. If your Section B benefits have been reduced, denied, or are about to end, O’Dea Earle offers free consultations for personal injury matters.

After a car accident, 120 days can pass quickly.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, if you intend to pursue a personal injury claim, written notice generally needs to be provided within 120 days of the accident.

Missing that deadline does not necessarily mean you no longer have a claim, but it can affect parts of your recovery.

You don’t need to know whether you have a claim before speaking with a lawyer. An early conversation can help you understand your options and the timelines that may apply.

It’s never too early to ask.

Whiplash can be easy to underestimate.

The pain and stiffness may not appear immediately after a car accident. When they do, everyday things like working, driving, sleeping, or simply turning your head can become difficult.

If you’re experiencing symptoms, seek medical attention and take your recovery seriously. When you’re ready, we can help you understand the insurance and legal side.

We know what you’re facing.

We are proud to congratulate our Managing Partner, David Williams, on his appointment as King’s Counsel (K.C.).

The King’s Counsel designation is one of the highest honours that can be bestowed upon a lawyer in Newfoundland and Labrador. It recognizes exceptional professional achievement, integrity, and meaningful contributions to the legal profession and the administration of justice.

David’s dedication to his clients, colleagues, and our community has long reflected these values, and we couldn’t be more pleased to see his contributions recognized in this way.

Please join us in congratulating David on this well-deserved honour.

One of the first questions many people ask after an accident is, “How long will my personal injury claim take?”

The honest answer is that every claim is different.

Your medical recovery, the severity of your injuries, liability, insurance negotiations, and even court procedures can all affect the timeline. While some claims resolve within months, others may take several years.

Our latest blog explains what influences the timeline of a personal injury claim in Newfoundland and Labrador, what you can expect throughout the process, and why reaching a settlement too early isn’t always in your best interest.

Read the full blog to learn more, and if you have questions about your own situation, O’Dea Earle offers free personal injury consultations.

Race day is almost here.

After a spring that brought its share of wind, rain, and cool temperatures, race day is currently shaping up to offer the kind of conditions many participants look forward to: cool temperatures and cloudy skies.

If you’re taking part this Sunday, don’t forget that race kits must be picked up in advance and will not be available at the start line.

📍 Race Kit Pick Up Location
RE/MAX Centre (St. John’s Curling Club)
135 Mayor Avenue, St. John’s

Before heading to pick up your kit, it’s helpful to have your race bib number ready. You can find it on the Tely Ten website or in the race information email recently sent to participants.

The Tely Ten is one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s great traditions, and O’Dea Earle is proud to support this year’s event.

Good luck to everyone taking part this Sunday. We’ll see you at the finish line.
