Labour Day Weekend is here!

One last long weekend before school starts and everyone gets back into the routine.

Maybe it’s a camping trip, a backyard fire with friends, an outdoor adventure, or just letting the kids squeeze every last bit of fun out of summer.

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Sometimes the best weekends are the simple ones — good food, good people and a place you enjoy spending time together.

Whatever you have planned, make some memories, enjoy the extra day, and have a safe and fun Labour Day weekend!

And to the kids heading back to school next week... enjoy the freedom while it lasts.

Back to school means the return of routines, packed lunches, busy mornings—and a little peace and quiet for parents.

It also means more traffic, school buses making frequent stops, and plenty of children walking or biking.

Give yourself a few extra minutes, slow down, watch for flashing bus lights, and keep an extra eye on crosswalks and sidewalks.

The kids are getting back into their routine. The rest of us may need a few days to remember ours.

Good weather doesn’t have to end when the sun goes down.

An evening walk can give you a completely different perspective on your home and community. The quieter streets, lights across the bay and cooler air can make familiar places feel brand new.

Just remember to wear bright or reflective clothing, carry a light, use sidewalks or walking paths, and stay alert.

Enjoy the view, but make sure others can see you enjoying it.

Todays Realtor safety point!

Barbecue season is in full swing, so here’s a quick reminder from the serious side of me.

Keep the barbecue outdoors, never leave it unattended, and give everything a quick check before lighting.

Burnt burgers are disappointing. A burnt deck is considerably worse. Please keep that home safe and enjoyable.

One of the best things about living in CBS is that a change of scenery can be just a few minutes away, not to mention the sunsets.

Manuels River has beautiful trails, local wildlife and fossils that are considerably older than anything you’ll find in my MLS search.

A Friendly Reminder About E-Scooter and E-Bike Safety

Electric scooters and e-bikes are a fun and convenient way for kids and teens to get around, but they can also be surprisingly fast and very quiet.

As parents, it’s important to learn and teach young riders to:

* Follow all applicable laws and local rules
* Keep their speed under control
* Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions
* Wear the proper protective equipment, especially a well-fitted helmet
* Stay alert and watch carefully for vehicles, pedestrians and driveways
* Ride predictably and travel in the proper direction

These devices can approach quickly without motorists hearing, or sometimes even seeing, them. This is especially dangerous when someone is travelling against traffic on a sidewalk at a high rate of speed. A driver pulling out of a driveway or turning at an intersection may not have enough time to react.

Let’s take a few extra minutes to talk with our children about safe and responsible riding. A little guidance today can help prevent a serious accident tomorrow.

Please slow down, stay visible and watch out for one another. Our community’s safety is everyone’s responsibility.
