Good news for anyone who has disabled children - the Supreme Court of Canada just ruled that if you set up the bequest properly in your will, your children can still receive government benefits. If you are a geeky lawyer, it is also a fun read!

A trust set up for a person with disabilities shouldn’t disqualify them from their landlord’s rental assistance program, the Supreme Court has ruled.

Just read an article that reminded me again why it is so important to make sure that you deal with financial issues promptly on separation (or you could end paying your ex's debts):

Don't celebrate the end of summer with a speeding ticket in your mailbox! September 1st marks the first day of enforcement of reduced speed limits in school zones after the summer break. And the winner is:

A barber gave a haircut to a priest one day. The priest tried to pay for the haircut, but the barber refused, saying, “you do God’s work.”
The next morning the barber found a dozen bibles at the door to his shop.
A policeman came to the barber for a haircut, and again the barber refused payment, saying, “you protect the public.” The next morning the barber found a dozen doughnuts at the door to his shop.
A lawyer came to the barber for a haircut, and again the barber refused payment, saying, “you serve the justice system.”
The next morning the barber found a dozen lawyers waiting for a free haircut.
