We are pleased to highlight the participation of Andrea L.D. Charlie as moderator at The Canadian Bar Association / L'Association du Barreau canadien program, Aging Clients, Capacity, & Autonomy: Essential Tools for Today’s Practice.
As Canada’s population continues to age, lawyers are increasingly called upon to navigate complex and sensitive issues relating to capacity, undue influence, substitute decision-making, and evolving client dynamics. This program offers practical, defensible tools to assist practitioners in managing these challenges while respecting client autonomy, maintaining professional boundaries, and effectively assessing risk.
Participants will gain valuable insight into conducting well-documented capacity assessments that withstand scrutiny, identifying subtle indicators of vulnerability or financial exploitation, and approaching guardianship and decision-making frameworks with confidence and precision. The session also explores how to navigate emotionally complex matters while supporting autonomy through thoughtful, client-centred planning.
Andrea joins a distinguished panel of speakers from across Canada and contributes her perspective as a Saskatchewan practitioner to this important discussion. We are proud to see our lawyers contributing to conversations that shape the future of legal practice. To register, click here: https://www.cbapd.org/details_en.aspx?id=na_na26law10a
