⚠️ PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT — IMPORTANT WATER HEATER SAFETY RECALL ⚠️

I recently discovered that the Vesta VRS-199 tankless water heater installed in my own home is subject to a Health Canada safety recall involving a potentially serious carbon monoxide hazard.
My unit was installed in my Daytona Homes-built home in Aspen Ridge, Saskatoon. I do not know how many other Daytona-built homes may have been equipped with the same water heater, but given that these units were installed in residential construction during this period, I strongly encourage homeowners in Aspen Ridge and elsewhere in Saskatoon to take a few minutes and check their equipment.
If you have a Vesta tankless water heater, please check it.
Health Canada advises that the recall includes Vesta VRS and VRP tankless water heaters — ALL serial numbers of the VRS and VRP models are affected. Certain VRS Plus and VRP Plus units are also included.
The safety concern is serious: the internal exhaust duct can crack, potentially allowing combustion gases to escape into the home. This can create a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard capable of causing serious injury or death.
Health Canada advises owners of affected units to immediately stop using the recalled water heater and contact VESTA.DS to arrange a FREE repair by a certified technician.
Approximately 3,496 affected units were sold in Canada between May 2017 and July 2025. Affected models include:
VRS-150
VRS-199
VRP-150
VRP-199
Certain VRS Plus-150 / 199 units
Certain VRP Plus-150 / 199 units
In my case, I originally discovered a separate significant (Heat exchanger) water leak in my VRS-199. While investigating the problem, I learned that the heater itself was also included in this safety recall. I have now registered my unit with the Vesta recall program.
