GILBERT McGLOAN GILLIS - TRANSITION TO VIRTUAL LAW OFFICE

After having a physical presence in the uptown area for over 90 years, we are pleased to announce our transition to one of Saint John’s first virtual law offices.

The pandemic has brought about many changes in the way that legal services are being delivered.

We have been meeting with clients using Zoom and Teams when a face-to-face meeting is necessary or requested.

We have conducted trials in the Court of Appeal, Federal Court, and Court of Queen’s Bench with multiple lawyers by Zoom and Teams.

We have conducted lengthy pretrial hearings with multiple parties and lawyers by Zoom and Teams.

We have conducted regulatory hearings in other provinces by Zoom with multiple parties and lawyers.

We have found that all the costs of a physical office space, law library, furnishings, equipment, and parking are not required. All of which reduce the costs that are in the end charged back to the client.

We have found that we can deliver legal services at a significant less cost to our clients as overhead for offices, cost of travel and time for travel is not required.

We have found that the lawyers and staff prefer to work from home as they are much more productive, a benefit to all including our clients.

We are available 24/7 by telephone, email, Zoom, Teams, text, fax etc. in keeping up with all the latest technology.

Your files are ultra-secure and accessible, at our fingertips, from anywhere.

We are so excited to announce Light Up the Town Purple 2021 is officially beginning!! Lights are now available for purchase!💜
November is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the colour purple is used to show support for those who are or have been victims of domestic violence.
Purchase a strand of purple LED lights for $100 and put them up through November and December at your home or business to show you will stand up for women and children in your community. Proceeds go to Hestia House, a local shelter for women and children leaving abuse,
We at Hestia House have a goal of lighting up all of Saint John, the Kennebecasis Valley, Hampton and surrounding areas in Purple to show our community's support.

GMG will be closed tomorrow, September 30th in recognition of the 1st Inaugural National Truth & Reconciliation Day. We encourage everyone to wear orange to remember the lost Indigenous children sent to residential schools and to honour Survivors, their families, and their communities.

Today we are celebrating Rodney Gillis, Q.C.'s 50th year of practice! He is now a Life Member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, one of only 19 lawyers to reach this milestone in our province this year.

GMG just received a big order of sanitizer from Sussex Craft Distillery. It has a lovely light citrus scent and added glycerin which is surprisingly moisturizing and soft on the hands.
