Manitoba has released the results of Expression of Interest Draw #276, issuing 766 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across multiple pathways and targeted selections.

Key Highlights:

📌 The largest selection targeted candidates already working in Manitoba in manufacturing and utilities, with 605 invitations issued and a minimum score of 632.

📌 Occupation-specific invitations were also issued to workers in key sectors, including:

📌 Manitoba continued to invite candidates through Francophone and Strategic Recruitment Initiative selections, supporting employers and communities with ongoing labour needs.

If you are planning your move to Canada or have an application in progress — these numbers matter. Processing times can change frequently, so it’s important to check the latest figures.

🇨🇦 AAIP Update: Alberta Receives 200 Additional Nomination Spaces

IRCC has provided Alberta's Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) with 200 additional nominations for 2026.

This increases Alberta's total nomination allocation from 6,403 to 6,603.

The additional allocation gives Alberta more capacity to:

👉 Address regional labour market needs
👉 Support key provincial priorities
👉 Nominate more eligible candidates for permanent residence

The increase means Alberta has additional nomination spaces available for eligible candidates across its AAIP streams.

Important: More spaces do not mean automatic approval. Candidates must still meet the requirements of the relevant stream and be selected by Alberta.

🚨 Canada Has Raised the Wage Thresholds for the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).

Effective July 17, 2026, new hourly wage thresholds are now in effect across Canada, changing how certain jobs are classified under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).

📣 Ontario colleges are struggling to attract international students!

And the reason may go beyond the student cap.

According to data obtained by Global News, many Ontario colleges were unable to fill the international student spaces they were already allocated.

Some key findings:

📉 Colleges only used 55% of the Provincial Attestation Letters (PALs) assigned to them.

📉 They enrolled just 33% of the students they made offers to.

📉 As of June 2025, colleges had used only 46% of the PALs available to them.

Experts suggest that recent policy changes may be influencing student decisions.

One factor frequently cited is the reduction of Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility for certain programs, which may affect how prospective students evaluate their education and career opportunities after graduation.

The data also highlights a growing divide between colleges and universities.

While both have been affected by changes to Canada's international student system, universities have generally been more successful at converting offers into enrolments.
