Apple’s patent reveals future MacBook having crazy features

A new patent that Apple was recently granted in the US suggests that the future MacBooks could flaunt completely new design.

The new design hints at a dual-display MacBook that replaces the physical keyboard with a virtual one, a joystick, a unique keyboard, a button array & rotatable dial and a wireless charger.

Fitbit recent patent publication reveals it could be working on a health monitoring ring

Highlights:

The ring is capable of determining SPo2 levels, blood pressure, glucose level, lipid concentration or carboxyhemoglobin level.

The ring can wirelessly communicate the data to another portable electronic device.

The portable electronic device can be a phone, smart watch, fitness tracker, etc.

The portable electronic device can receive data from the ring once a second, minute, day, etc.

Homegrown dairy giant Amul wins its first trademark violation case outside India

Highlights:

The country’s largest dairy cooperative society will be awarded 32,733 Canadian dollars after it secured a victory in a trademark violation case in the Federal Court of Canada

In January 2020, the dairy giant got to know that its trademark ‘Amul’ and the logo of ‘Amul—The Taste of India’ was copied by Amul Canada.

The counsels argued that Amul had never licensed or provided consent for either Amul Canada or any of the four defendants to use its trademark and copyright in any manner.

The Federal Court of Canada finally ruled that the defendants had infringed the copyright of Amul and issued an order to permanently restrain Amul Canada and the four defendants from infringing the trademark and copyright of the Indian dairy giant.

Nokia suing Oppo over 5G and other patents

Nokia means business. Less than three months after getting Lenovo to pay up and little more than a month after selling Daimler a patent license at Nokia's preferred level of the supply chain (the end product)Nokia having filed patent infringement complaints against Chinese Android device maker Oppo.

Highlights:

Nokia that had announced a patent license agreement with Oppo in November 2018 that has apparently expired.

Nokia put out an official statement that Oppo has rejected the offer of renewing the contract.

IAM listed four jurisdictions and it appears that actions have been brought in a multiplicity of European and Asian countries over both standard-essential patents (SEPs) and non-SEPs. The Non-SEPs-in-suit relate to connectivity, user interface and security features.

[BREAKING] Delhi High Court creates Intellectual Property Division to deal with IP cases; exclusive IP Benches likely to be constituted

With similar IP Courts already functioning in UK, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, China etc., this step by the High Court falls in line with established global practices.

Highlights:

The Delhi High Court has created an Intellectual Property Division (IPD) to deal solely with cases related to intellectual property issues.

IPD Benches shall be notified by the Chief Justice from time to time and exclusive IPD Benches are also likely to be created for dealing with such matters, the press release added.

The IPD besides dealing with original proceedings, would also deal with the Writ Petitions (Civil), CMM, RFA, FAO relating to Intellectual Property Rights disputes.
