Leach & Kuehl Professional Corporation Barristers & Solicitors is so excited to be participating in tomorrow's Downtown Pembroke Pumpkin Treats event!

Last year over a thousand young participants took over the City of Pembroke's downtown core with all kinds of amazing costumes - it was a sight to see!

Leach & Kuehl looks forward to seeing you all at the corner of Pembroke Street West and Church Street where we are going to have a huge selection of candy to choose from!

In addition to the trick-or-treating, also make sure to visit BGC Renfrew County at Shamrock Park (Downtown on the corner of Pembroke Street West and Moffat Street) from 11:00am to 1:00pm as they will be hosting a sweet n' spooky fundraiser! BGC Renfrew County is teaming up with the Pembroke Business Improvement Area to bring you free spooky games, crafts and more, as well as auctioning off pies and Halloween themed desserts made by local restaurants and bakers. BGC Renfrew County provides amazing supports and opportunities to local youth and is most deserving of the community's continued support!

Honouring the The City of Pembroke's announcement today, the flag at Leach & Kuehl Professional Corporation Barristers & Solicitors will be flown at half-mast until further notice in honour of the late Jamie Bramburger, Interim Dean of Algonquin College Waterfront Campus, and an exceptional community leader.

UPDATE: The flag at Leach & Kuehl Professional Corporation Barristers & Solicitors will be flown at half-mast until sunset on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the day of the funeral of the late Jamie Bramburger.

In addition to serving in various roles at the local Algonquin College campus, Jamie dedicated his life to the service and betterment of our local community. The sheer number of engagements, activities, accomplishments and initiatives that Jamie lent himself to, could simply not ever be covered with appropriate recognition. He was the voice of the Pembroke Lumber Kings and numerous other Cogeco - YourTV Ottawa Valley productions. He was an unwavering advocate for Algonquin College students and local education programs. He was at the forefront of economic and labour market studies. He hosted some of Canada's biggest names right here in the City of Pembroke as part of Algonquin College's Speaker Series. He was a historian, a statistician, a broadcaster, a philanthropist and a friend to many. He was a leader of the community and yet one of the humblest people to have ever walked our local streets.

In accordance with the federal government's announcement, the flag at Leach & Kuehl Professional Corporation Barristers & Solicitors will be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset on January 9, 2025, the day of the funeral of the late Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States of America.

Many residents may not be aware that there is actually a local connection with Jimmy Carter. Following a partial meltdown of an experimental nuclear reactor in Chalk River in the Winter of 1952-1953, Carter, then a U.S. Navy lieutenant who was working on a nuclear submarine project at the time, was called upon to come up to the Ottawa Valley with an American team to assist Canada with one of the first nuclear incidents in world history.

The flag at Leach & Kuehl Professional Corporation Barristers & Solicitors will be flown at half-mast until sunset on Saturday, January 4, 2025, the day of the funeral of the late Joyce Moore-Cowan, former councillor of the City of Pembroke.

In addition to serving her community on Council, Joyce was involved in an immense rage of volunteer and other community activities including as a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club, a lifetime member of the Pembroke Community Choir, the founder of the Pembroke Musical Society, as well as teaching various performing arts for many years. Joyce touched the lives of so many people and her devotion to our community will not be forgotten.

Our condolences go out to all of Joyce's family, friends and colleagues.

The flag at Leach & Kuehl Professional Corporation Barristers & Solicitors will be flown at half-mast on Monday, October 21, 2024 in honour of William "Bill" Chown, a former lawyer practicing law in the County of Renfrew.

Bill Chown was a third generation lawyer - his grandfather having first started an office in Renfrew, Ontario over 100 years ago. Bill himself was well known in the county's legal circles, having joined his father's practice in 1961. Today, the Chown law firm continues on in Renfrew as Chown, Smith & Scott.

The flag at Leach & Kuehl Professional Corporation Barristers & Solicitors will be flown at half-mast until Monday, September 2, 2024 in honour of the passing of Henry V. Brown, former mayor of the City of Pembroke (1975-1980).

In addition to having served as mayor of the City of Pembroke, Henry also served as a councillor, was a business owner and an educator.

Henry's time on council was marked by many accomplishments, particularly in the area of recreation wherein under his leadership the City saw the opening of the Pembroke and Area Community Centre (Pem Ice 2), development of the Pembroke Marina, and the opening of Festival Hall.

Our condolences go out to all of Henry's family, friends and former colleagues.
