**QUEBEC EXTENDS REFUSAL TO PROCESS LMIAs FOR LOW WAGES**

Immigration Quebec will extend the refusal to process LMIAs for low wages until Nov 30, 2025. This continues to affect the Montreal area and, starting March 3, the region of Laval will also be included among the work places for which low-wage LMIAs won't be processed.

For caregivers, this means that Immigration Quebec will only accept to process:
1. in Montreal and Laval: low-wage LMIAs only for high medical needs and in-home childcare provided to parents who cannot take care of their children due to a medical condition.
2. anywhere in the province of Quebec, except for Montreal and Laval: low-wage LMIAs for in-home child care and elderly care.
3. anywhere in the province of Quebec, including Montreal and Laval: high-wage LMIAs for in-home child care and elderly care where the hourly salary is at least 32.96$

The region of Montreal includes the following municipalities: Baie-d'Urfé, Beaconsfield, Côte-Saint-Luc, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Dorval, Hampstead, Kirkland, Dorval, Montreal, Montreal East, Montreal West, Mount Royal, Pointe-Claire, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Senneville and Westmount. The region of Laval includes the city of Laval only.

***IN-CANADA CAREGIVERS AND OUT-OF-STATUS CAREGIVERS: YOUR PR STREAM IS CONFIRMED***

IRCC announced today that when the new caregiver programs will open, only applications from in-Canada caregivers will be accepted. Applicants currently abroad will have to wait for their stream to open at a later date.

Great news for caregivers without status: you may still be eligible for the pilot under a special public policy. A limited number of spots would be available and more information will be released soon.

Coming home for Christmas has a whole new meaning for our friends Sheenah and Jonathan. Earlier this month Sheenah travelled from the Philippines and became a Permanent Resident upon landing. They are finally reunited and ready to experience the magic of their first Christmas together at home, in Canada. Here's to a joyful holiday and a bright New Year!

***QUEBEC TO FREEZE THE TEMPORARY FOREIGN WORKER PROGRAM FOR 6 MONTHS IN THE MONTREAL AREA***

More information will be officially released tomorrow by the Quebec PM. For the moment, what we know is that the measure concerns the low-wage stream, i.e. salaries below $27 an hour. There will be certain exceptions for workers in construction, agriculture, food processing, education and social services. Applications submitted in all the other sectors will not be taken into consideration for 6 months.

Canada Day is a day to celebrate achievements and share what makes us proud. We are very proud of Jhannet, who arrived in Canada a few weeks ago.

Jhannet received an employment offer in the hospitality industry and this opportunity took her from Macao the scenic Revelstoke, in the province of British Columbia. A great chance to get out, enjoy the great outdoors and capture snowy mountains in the month of June.

Welcome to Canada, Jhannet! All the best for your new job, and well done!

Welcome to the Eh Team, Ronseth!

Canada Day is an opportunity for Canadians from all communities to come together and celebrate their success in their new country. Ronseth accomplished a major step in his Canadian journey earlier last month as he took the Oath of Citizenship and became a Canadian Citizen. His sister was there to cheer him on.

Holding multiple diplomas from the Philippines and an having an impressive work experience in the Middle East, Ronseth was selected by the province of Quebec and became a Canadian Permanent Resident. After more hard work and determination, he successfully became a Quebec Registered Nurse.

Today it's Ronseth's first Canada Day as a Canadian citizen so let's wish him good luck with his new status and many more achievements to come! That journey was intense, eh?

Meet Kareem Isid, one of our most recently approved Canadian Permanent Residents! He landed in Ottawa a few weeks ago to join his wife Ellen Joy and to be here for the birth of their first child.
Due to intricate political decisions, spousal sponsorships take longer nowadays and applicants face roadblocks in the process. But for Ellen and Isid, the only bump was the baby bump... Being an Ontario sponsorship, the file took just a few months to be processed and approved.
Congratulations and all the best to you as you embark together on this amazing journey of parenthood and new life in Canada!

"We finally received our PR cards. The long wait is over, no more worries" wrote Elizabeth a while ago. She and her husband Roderick became permanent residents through a limited-time PR pathway that opened during the pandemic. Despite the small program cap and the short window of opportunity, they took this chance, gathered their documents quickly and were able to submit their application before the cap was reached.

Here they are posing in front of the CN Tower in Toronto. Well done and good luck with your new projects in Canada!

Happy Valentine's Day, Elizabeth and Roderick!
