Yesterday, Colonel-Maitre® Drapeau appeared before the Standing Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs concerning Bill C-15: The Budget Implementation Act. If passed, the Bill will retroactively adjust certain pension and benefit rates to the detriment of veterans and their families. The Government appear to be trying to save money on the backs of our Veterans, and this is not acceptable!

In case you missed it, the federal government appears to have been overcharging veterans in long-term care for decades. Instead of doing the right thing and repaying these veterans and their estates, the Carney Liberals decided to just change the rules ("legislative clarification"), and keep the money that they overcharged disabled veterans in long term care homes. Not the noblest way to save money, says I.

The current hostilities in Israel-Palestine reminds me that my late father, LOUIS PHILLIPE DRAPEAU served with the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF 1) at Camp Rafah in 1957-1958. It is located south of the Gaza Strip near the Egyptian border. He was a member of 56 Canadian Transport Company, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps [RCASC]. UNEF I was established to secure and supervise the cessation of hostilities, including the withdrawal of the armed forces of France, Israel and the United Kingdom from Egyptian territory and, after the withdrawal, to serve as a buffer between the Egyptian and Israeli forces.
