in a family law matter, there is always the leave-er and the leave-ee.
somebody "left" the other, somebody made the decision to end it, and communicated it to the other.
it is always tougher to be the leave-ee.
what can be even harder is to realize the end of the relationship was actually a blessing - because you were trying to hang on to something that wasn't even there anymore.
not that it feels like a blessing initially, but eventually you look ahead at the days of your life that remain . . . and be quietly glad that you'll not be wasting them being invested in something that wasn't invested in you
