Upon being advised that one of the sureties on Mr. King's original bail release was intending to revoke as a surety this week and that there were allegations that Mr. King breached his current bail conditions, we set a plan in motion to deal with both issues as soon as possible.
Counsel and Mr. King have worked diligently to get Mr. King back to Ottawa to deal with both these issues and arrange for his surrender into custody. As arranged, Mr. King surrendered himself into custody at the Ottawa courthouse just after 2:00 PM this afternoon.
Mr. King will be seeking a bail hearing at the earliest opportunity and intends to vigorously defend against any allegations that he breached his previous bail conditions. As Mr. King is currently in trial the jurisdiction for his new bail hearing appears to be before our trial judge. We've reached out to the court to seek the courtâs availability for the first possible day for this bail hearing.
Neither Mr. King nor I have any further comments to make at this time.
