Story time 👇🏼
We were out for a walk with our neighbors when one of them shared the nightmare situation of managing their father's estate.
His dad named him and his brother as joint executors of the estate. Sounds fair, right? Sometimes it can be.
Here’s the catch: his brother lives 40 minutes away and doesn’t drive.
So every “quick” executor task like bank appointments, funeral arrangements, signings with their professionals, turned into a half-day events. What should have been simple became stressful, slow, and unnecessarily complicated.
Moral of the story: when choosing executors, fairness matters, but so does practicality. The best executor isn’t always what seems equal on paper… it’s the one who can actually get things done efficiently.
It's so important to talk through these decisions with an estate lawyer before finalizing your will. We help families think through the real-life “what ifs” and hopefully minimize the family drama during an emotional time.
