✨ Big News for Lost Canadians: Bill C-3 is Now in Force
As of December 15, 2025, thousands of lost Canadians have become eligible for citizenship under the new Bill C-3.
🇨🇦 What’s changed?
Bill C-3 removes the first-generation limit that previously prevented many children born abroad from inheriting Canadian citizenship.
If at least one of your parents—or even one of your grandparents—was Canadian at the time of your birth or adoption, you may now qualify.
Moving forward, children born abroad to citizens by descent can also qualify, provided their Canadian parent has spent at least 1,095 days in Canada before their birth/adoption.
