The emergency law enabling lawyers to make available virtual signings of Wills and Powers of Attorneys by video conferencing has been extended numerous times over the past 3 months. It is now set to expire July 29, 2020. This is the shortest extension and may well be the last.

Until Ontario’s emergency legislation is revoked Wills, Powers of Attorney and other legal documents usually requiring in person signing can be signed on a video-conference.

Things just got better for people needing Wills and Powers of Attorney in Ontario. An emergency Order in Council was made under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act this week so that we lawyers can do virtual signings of Wills and Powers of Attorneys by video conferencing.
