Ontario’s call to legalize the carrying of pepper spray for self-defence won’t be done by writing letters alone. Earlier this week, Ontario Attorney General Doug Downey sent a letter to his federal counterpart Sean Fraser that, in part, urges the federal government to allow Canadians to carry ca...

"Renaming the park was first proposed by Michael Johnston, a defence lawyer and Tierney constituent who went to high school with Momolu. Johnston, a partner at his firm Shore & Johnston, said he was looking around the Beacon Hill neighbourhood to find an opportunity for a community improvement project when he came across the skate park and found that its name was too generic and it needed a revamp." Thank you to Tim Tierney, City Councilor for Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward, for taking an idea, and making it a reality. Excited for the community, and Gailea Momolu, when the project is ultimately completed!

An Ottawa skateboarder star says he’s “blown away” after city council approved renaming a skate park in Beacon Hill in his honour.

Matthew Matchett says he is thankful after Crown prosecutors dropped their breach-of-trust case against the federal government official. Matchett was accused of having leaked cabinet secrets about a $700-million shipbuilding deal in November 2015.

Defence lawyer Michael Johnston said he was long confident that once the truth came out, the Crown’s case would collapse and his client would be exonerated.

OTTAWA — The failed prosecution of vice-admiral Mark Norman loomed large on Thursday as a second federal official accused of leaking cabinet secrets about a $700-million shipbuilding contract walked out of an Ottawa courthouse a free man.
