Painting baseboards that are already installed is usually a recipe for lower back pain and accidental paint smudges all over your flooring. 🤦‍♂️

If you try to tape the floor perfectly, the paint can still bleed underneath, or the tape pulls up a sticky residue later. Instead of wasting time and rolls of expensive tape, we have a much quicker trick.

Grab a plastic sheet protector or a standard manila office folder! 📁✨

By sliding the thin edge directly into the tiny gap where the baseboard meets the floor, you create an instant, impenetrable shield. You can paint right down to the very bottom edge of the trim with absolute confidence. As you work your way down the wall, just slide the folder along with you. Wipe off any excess paint on the folder as you go, and you’re left with crisp, professional lines and flawless floors.

Would you try this trick, or are you strictly team painter’s tape? Let us know in the comments! 👇

It happens to all of us, you leave your favorite garden shears or hand tools out in the rain, or they sit in a damp shed all winter, and they end up covered in stiff, orange rust. 🌧️🍂

Before you head to the store to buy replacements, you need to try this dead-simple restoration trick first.
Instead of scrubbing for hours or using harsh chemical rust-removers, all you need is a bottle of standard white vinegar. Drop your rusty tool into a glass jar or bucket, submerge it completely in the vinegar, and let it sit overnight.

The mild acetic acid safely breaks down the chemical bonds of the rust while leaving the solid metal underneath untouched. The next day, give it a light scrub and a quick wipe down—the rust will slide right off, leaving your tools looking brand new and moving smoothly again.

Pro Tip: Once they’re clean and dry, rub a light coat of household oil (like mineral oil or WD-40) over the metal parts to protect them from future moisture!

When one cedar tree in your privacy row dies, you’re usually left with two bad options: stare at an ugly brown patch, or rip it out and wait years for a new one to grow back. 🌲

We found a third option that turns a backyard headache into a brilliant feature.

Instead of fighting the gap, the dead tree was cleared out and a custom, slim wooden shed was built right into the hedge line. It fills the space perfectly, blends seamlessly with the greenery, and adds functional storage for garden tools without taking up valuable yard space.

Now it looks completely intentional, like it was designed that way from day one! 🪵✨

What do you think? Is this a brilliant backyard hack, or would you have just planted a new tree? Let us know in the comments! 👇

Ever notice how those small wall cracks seem to come back just a few months after you “fix” them? 🤦‍♂️

Most people just slap some spackle on top and call it a day. But if you don’t remove the loose material and bridge the gap with tape, that crack is going to ghost you and reappear the moment the house shifts.

We’re showing you the right way to make sure that repair lasts a lifetime. It gets a little messy first, but the results speak for themselves.

Pro Tip: Don’t skip the drywall tape—it’s the “skeleton” that holds the joint together!

Here’s a quick pro-tip to make your next bathroom refresh a breeze: slip a trash bag over the tank! It gives you full access to the wall without the mess, keeping your fixtures clean and your paint job sharp.

Stop fighting the rocks and start winning the war on weeds! 🚫🌿

We’ve all been there. Kneeling in the gravel, trying to yank out stubborn weeds only to have them break off at the root. There is a much faster way to clear those rocky garden beds and pathways right where they grow.

Using a propane torch is a great chemical-free alternative for areas with non-combustible ground cover like stone or river rock. It’s fast, requires no bending, and gets the job done without the backache. Just remember to keep a safe distance from your home’s siding and any flammable mulch!

At Atlas Peak Inspections, we love seeing proactive home maintenance that keeps your property looking sharp. Whether it’s exterior landscaping or interior systems, we are here to provide you with a 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee.

Measure twice, drill once? How about zero measuring instead. 📏❌

Installing a pocket door striker plate is usually a game of “guess and check” that leaves your door frame looking like Swiss cheese.

The Pro Hack: > 1️⃣ Tape the catch plate directly to the door hardware exactly where it engages.
2️⃣ Press the door into the trim to transfer the bolt pattern perfectly onto the wood.
3️⃣ Now you know exactly where to drill. No guessing, no adjustments, just one clean install.

It’s these small details that separate a “weekend project” from a professional finish. Whether you’re building in Orléans or renovating in the Glebe, we’re here to ensure every detail of your home is up to par.

Ever wonder why your baseboards don’t stay tight?

If you’re just shooting nails into drywall, they’re not actually holding anything. Over time, those gaps will start to form and your trim will pull away.

The Pro Fix:
1️⃣ Use a stud finder to locate the solid framing behind the drywall.
2️⃣ Nail directly into the studs for a grip that actually lasts.
3️⃣ Repeat the process as you move down the wall for a perfectly secure finish.

It’s the difference between a “good enough” job and a professional one that stays tight and secure for years to come.

Standard DIY mistake: Fighting the handle. 🛠️❌

We see it all the time in Ottawa—loose door handles or scratched hardware because someone tried to tighten the screws at an awkward angle.

The Pro Tip: > Most modern handles have a small release pin or “detent” on the side. Pop the handle off first! This gives you a straight shot at the screws so you can tighten them properly without stripping the head or scuffing the finish.

It’s the small details that make a home feel solid and well-maintained.
