The Bank of Canada held borrowing rates steady today and seems to be taking a measured approach, balancing inflation due to higher than normal energy costs and slower economic growth. The bank reported that it’s trying to look past these short-term inflation spikes but will look at cutting rates if inflation continues.
The next Bank of Canada’s next rate review is set for June 10, 2026.

The Ottawa Real Estate market is transitioning into spring with increased sales activity following a relatively quiet winter characterized by balanced conditions. Average residential prices have been stable, with March 2026 seeing a slight 1% year-over-year increase to around $692,500. Elevated inventory is giving buyers more choice and negotiating power when it comes to condos while the detached home market remains relatively tight, particularly in the central established neighbourhood like the ones we specialize in. Days on market are hovering between 30-40 for the whole city but homes in central Ottawa are selling faster. We are also seeing a lot of multiple bids on homes, particularly homes that are turn-key.
