IEC Work Permit News

Great news for International Experience Canada (IEC) participants!

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has extended a special policy that lets you get your next IEC work permit without leaving Canada! That means if you’re already in Canada on an IEC work permit and you’ve received your next Letter of Introduction (LOI), you can now apply and receive your new permit from inside Canada and have it mailed to your Canadian address

This extension is a huge relief for young workers and travelers who want to stay in Canada without the hassle of crossing the border just to get their new work permit.

👉 If you’re planning to extend or switch your IEC work permit, this could save you time, money, and stress!

Visitor Visa Update🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦

Canada has expanded visitor visa rules. Travelers may now be allowed to stay up to 1 year at a time, without repeated extensions when visitors can demonstrate:
• Sufficient funds to support themselves
• A clear plan to leave Canada at the end of the stay (e.g., return ticket, job/family ties back home

📌 Important rules still apply

• Visitors cannot work or study unless they obtain a separate permit for those activities.
• A longer stay is not automatic. It’s still up to the border officer’s discretion based on the visitor’s situation.
• The exact date you must leave will be stamped in your passport or noted on your electronic travel record. Stick to that date.

Happy New Year 2026⭐️🌟✨

Big 2026 Changes Coming to Express Entry System
• Starting 2026, Canada will roll out updates to Express Entry that adjust how immigration invitations are issued. This aims to better match immigration with labour-market needs.
• As part of this shift, certain “priority occupations” will be emphasized (e.g. healthcare, skilled trades, etc.), which could affect who gets invited for PR

If you plan to apply under Express Entry, keep an eye on occupation lists and ensure your profile matches the new priorities.
