Don’t panic in your separation or divorce!
Often in life we are hit suddenly by difficulties, tragedy, financial problems or sickness, especially in dealing with a separation or divorce.
Sometimes it the long-term challenges that strike a blow. What do we do?
One thing we don’t want to do is to be overcome by panic.
In fact, a key factor you need to know is that you are always in control of your response. Philippians 4: 6-7 tells us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
In the moment when you experience panic and fear in your separation or divorce, ask God to fill you with his peace. It is a supernatural peace and calm that only he can give.
There are pivotal turning points in our lives when we must choose to trust God instead of allowing ourselves to be overtaken by panic and fear. Trusting God is not a feeling but a choice we make. We may feel afraid or feel panic, but we can choose peace. We can choose to trust God and tap into his peace that will guard our hearts and minds.
Imagine you had three volume controls on your body. When a tragedy or setback with or in your separation or divorce happens, you would turn down the volume on your negative thoughts. You would turn down the volume on your emotions.
But you would turn up the volume on your spirit. Don’t allow negative thoughts and your emotions to drown out God’s voice. Allow the word of God to come up out of you and talk to you and encourage you.
Let the Holy Spirit comfort you and lead you. Allow God’s voice to be the dominant voice in your life.
Choose peace over panic and fear in your separation or divorce and prayer instead of worry.
