When it’s enough already...

There are many cases where individuals have family law and criminal law matters at the same time.

At 311 Jarvis Street in Toronto, the Ontario Court of Justice has an Integrated Domestic Violence Court. This means that the same judge hears both the family and criminal matter at the same time, if the criminal matter involves partner abuse.

This Court is only available to people in Toronto and does not hear cases that involve divorce, property division, or child protection.

Meet Kristen Van Den Broek, our Intake Clerk and Mediation Coordinator.

Kristen was a full-time mother before joining the firm in August of 2021. Since that time, she has grown within the firm to be our dedicated intake clerk and mediation coordinator. As a mother and spouse, she has mastered the ability to multi-task and maintain organization.

In her free time, Kristen enjoys hikes and bike rides with her family. She also enjoys attending live theater, especially musicals, and trying out new recipes.

Meet Samantha Henderson, our Paralegal and Office Manager.

Samantha is a Licensed Paralegal and has been a member of the Law Society of Ontario since 2013. As a paralegal in family law, she does not provide advice but provides supporting assistance to the family law lawyer. Samantha has been working with Gilead Kay for over a decade and during that time she has worked exclusively in Family and Child Protection Law.

In her free time, Samantha enjoys working on her tiny home, travelling, and nature walks.

Meet Holly Langille, our associate.

Holly is a Family and Child Protection Lawyer practicing exclusively in family and child protection law. Prior to her legal career, she works in education at the Mi'kmaq Liaison Office at the Nova Scotia Department of Education, working to support indigenous students. She also volunteered with several women's right organizations and has extensive experience working with victims of domestic violence.
