In family law matters, the court holds wide discretion in addressing conduct and breaches of court orders.
In the recent case of A.N. v A.M.N, 2024 BCSC 587, the respondent faced significant consequences after repeatedly breaching conduct and parenting time orders, including fines totalling $200,000 and special costs.
Despite prior warnings and penalties, his actions persisted, causing substantial harm to both his children and ex-partner. The court emphasizes the seriousness of these breaches, underscoring that such behaviour will not be tolerated.
While this case may present an extreme instance, it highlights the importance of adhering to court orders and understanding the ramifications of failing to do so.

In mediation, both parties commit to working together to find mutually acceptable solutions.
Key elements of this process include:
➡️ Neutral Facilitation: The mediator serves as a neutral facilitator, guiding the conversation and helping the parties identify common ground while avoiding confrontational tactics.
➡️ Empowerment: Mediation empowers individuals to take an active role in shaping the outcome of their dispute, fostering a sense of ownership and control over the resolution.
➡️ Confidentiality: Mediation proceedings are confidential, creating a safe space for open dialogue and exploration of potential solutions.
➡️ Cost-Effectiveness: Mediation is often more cost-effective and time-efficient than traditional litigation, as it typically requires fewer formal procedures and court appearances.

Chag Pesach Sameach!
People often become highly suspicious of their ex after a separation, particularly where children or money are involved.
Emotions can run high, trust can break down, and the impulse to see the absolute worst in a once-beloved individual can become overridingly strong.
In this state, an individual risks transforming into the “divorce detective,” on the hunt for any clue that their ex is a bad person, a bad parent, or hiding money.
Consider these do's and don'ts when it comes to social media and divorce proceedings from Connect Family Law lawyer Daniel MacNeill.
