On March 27th, 2026, Canada passed as new law Bill C-12 called "the Strengthening Canada's Immigration System and Boarders Act," which effectively terminates retroactively anyone who arrived after June 24th, 2020 and waited 1 year to make a refugee claim. The fact that the person left Canada and came back and then made a refugee claim will not be allowed as well.
