Catherine came to real estate after a successful career in the film and advertising industries. As a well-respected Location Manager on major US and international projects, Catherine developed an ability to rapidly discern what her designer and

director clients wanted to create. Her ability to track down the real estate that fit their dreams, and then efficiently negotiate agreements, made her a sought-after addition to many productions.

When our effort and determination are put towards helping others succeed, of course we succeed as well. Am happy to share that once again I've helped a senior get far more for her property that what the neighbourhood real estate know-it-all said we could sell for. I will never be a realtor who just plunks a sign down and waits, the stakes are too high for the people I've been hired to help!

This weekend, I’ll be with several people in my world who are each navigating difficult moments with aging parents.

A move into a senior residence.
A sudden fall and a broken hip.
A long goodbye… and a funeral.

Different stories, but the same feeling, a mix of love, responsibility, and overwhelm.

In these moments, what matters most is being present. Sitting together. Making space for what’s happening.

And then, the practical side begins to surface.

The home. The belongings. The next steps. The decisions no one feels ready to make.

By that point, many people are simply exhausted.

This is the part of my work that matters most to me, being there not just for the decisions, but for the people living through them. Helping bring clarity, perspective, and a way forward.

One step at a time.

💬 Have you or someone close to you gone through this recently?

Helping seniors downsize from a home they have lived in for decades is a huge process, requiring sensitivity, patience and understanding. Each item given away represents a memory and often a story. It takes time to properly prepare a home but leads to results that are so much more positive for the seller. The smiles and the impact are worth so much more to me than the money. Here are some before and afters of a Senior's home I just sold. We've been working on it since September!

What inspired and pushed me to create a real estate business serving seniors and their families is my absolute rage at seeing stories like this below. There should be no place in our profession for realtors who put their needs ahead of the needs of a vulnerable client's.

A Toronto friend recently told me the story of an elderly neighbourhood homeowner who had been 'befriended' by a family up their street. They promised to visit him, care for him in his home, bring him food and eventually got his trust and of course full control of his affairs. My friend did her best to intervene but it was too late, and of course once the documents were signed the care and service disappeared. He died in a hospital within the year, alone and penniless.

This kind of fraud is ruthless and terrible, and if you see it happening, don't be afraid to denounce it. Befriend your neighbours, look around outside of your bubble...now more than ever we need to create community that cares.

Buyers and Sellers take note!! On line banks can cause challenges and delays in real estate transactions! Access to large bank drafts or transfers, or even confirmations of mortgage balances all take longer. Plan ahead! Thanks to the Globe and Mail for this article.
