Between October 13 and 16, Canada issued 8,252 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence through Express Entry.

🔹 October 15 | Canadian Experience Class
2,500 invitations | CRS: 519

The people who help build a company rarely join the finished version of it.

They join the messy version.

The version with fewer systems, smaller teams, more questions and a lot of figuring things out as you go.

This is one of the first photos of Ceren and me.

Five years later, I look at it very differently.

So much has changed at Immigria since then. Roles evolved. Responsibilities expanded. The team grew. And somewhere along the way, the professional relationship in this photo became one of the relationships that helped shape the company itself.

The cost of international hiring is not just the consultant's invoice. 📊

For Canadian employers, immigration costs can include different government fees depending on the pathway.

Examples include:

✔ LMIA processing fee: $1,000 per position

✔ Employer compliance fee for many LMIA-exempt employer-specific permits: $230

✔ Work permit processing fee: $155

✔ Biometrics, when required: $85 per individual

But the real cost also includes HR time, document collection, compliance, recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning.

Immigration should be budgeted as part of talent strategy, not treated as an unexpected administrative expense.

Refreshing the portal will not speed up your PR. Forgetting your work permit could cost you. 😬

"My PR is in process, so my work permit does not matter anymore." It still matters.

Submitting a permanent residence application does not automatically extend your temporary status or give you indefinite authorization to work in Canada.

Depending on the PR program and your situation, you may be eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit or another work permit option. But eligibility and timing matter.

If your current permit is expiring, do not assume the PR application alone protects your ability to keep working.

Permanent residence and temporary status are connected, but they are not the same process.

The UK joining CPTPP does not automatically give British citizens a Canadian work permit. 🇬🇧

But something important did change.

Canada ratified the United Kingdom's CPTPP accession on July 3, 2026, and the agreement entered into force between Canada and the UK on September 1, 2026.

CPTPP includes temporary-entry commitments for certain categories of business persons.

That does not mean every UK citizen can now work in Canada without an LMIA. Eligibility may depend on the category, occupation, qualifications, job arrangement and other immigration requirements.

A trade agreement may create an immigration option. It does not replace an eligibility assessment.
