⚡ Breaking: Ontario Eliminates 13% HST on New Homes (Limited Time!)
Starting April 1, 2026, Ontario is removing the 13% HST on new homes valued up to $1 million for one year, allowing for a maximum rebate of $130,000. This temporary measure, aimed at boosting construction, applies to all new home buyers (not just first-time buyers) and includes condos. Rebates are available for primary residences.
Key Details of the New 2026-2027 Ontario HST Changes
* Eligible Homes: New homes, condominiums, and substantially renovated homes.
* Maximum Savings: Up to $130,000 for homes priced at or below $1 million.
* Temporary Expansion: This expanded rebate applies to agreements entered into between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
* Sliding Scale: For homes priced between $1 million and $1.5 million, the maximum $130,000 rebate applies, but reduces for higher values, stopping at $24,000 for homes valued at $1.85 million and above.
* Conditions: The home must be a primary place of residence.
