Express Entry Draw – January 7, 2026 (Canadian Experience Class)
The year 2026 has begun with a strong emphasis on candidates already in Canada. In the January 7, 2026 Express Entry draw, IRCC invited 8,000 Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates with CRS scores of 511 and above to apply for permanent residence. This reflects a continued policy focus on skilled workers who are actively employed in Canada, paying taxes, and contributing to the economy—an approach that aligns well with on-the-ground realities.
It is encouraging to see this policy direction taking shape early in the year. To further support workforce stability and economic growth, consistent and larger CEC draws throughout 2026—ideally bringing CRS cutoffs closer to the 500 range—would be a positive and realistic step. Notably, the highest number of CEC invitations was issued on February 13, 2021, demonstrating IRCC’s capacity to conduct large-scale draws when aligned with policy objectives.
As of now, IRCC has already issued 8,574 Express Entry invitations in 2026, signaling an active start to the year and renewed hope for candidates with Canadian experience.
