One of the most common questions clients ask me when they sit down in our Mississauga office to discuss estate planning is: “What is the actual difference between a Power of Attorney and a Will?”
I always like to simplify it with a straightforward rule of thumb: A Power of Attorney is for when you are alive but unable or unwilling to do something yourself, while a Will only becomes operational once you pass away.
