After a long and dedicated career as a physician in Barrie, my client recently stepped into retirement—and chose to begin a new chapter closer to family in Halifax.

💭 Sitting in the hospital at 6am with my parents for my dad's planned surgery, I was reminded of the load that adult children often carry as their parents age.

For me, that load feels lighter than for some. My parents have rightsized—they live in a home that supports them, they’ve built a social network, and all of the siblings and spouses are actively involved. So when moments like this come, none of us carry the weight alone.

But I can’t help but think how much heavier this would feel if they were still in a house that no longer worked for them —too much maintenance, too much space, too much isolation and all the safety concerns.

This is part of the reason I started Seamless Rightsizing. To support mature adults and their adult children. To help families move into safer, more suitable homes so that when life brings challenges, the focus can be on care and connection, not stress and overwhelm. It really does continue to be a privilege to be a small help during big times for people.
