A lot of Study Permit applicants are making the same mistake right now:

“I’m doing a Master’s, so I don’t need a PAL.”

Not always.

If your Master’s program is through a private institution, PAL requirements may still apply.

Another mistake? Waiting until the last minute to submit your application and discovering missing documents when it’s too late.

Before you submit, double-check your PAL requirement.

One overlooked detail can delay your plans.

In many cases, you can update your NOC code after receiving an ITA, as long as your CRS points and program eligibility remain unchanged.

📌 TEER changes within eligible categories (0, 1, 2, or 3) are generally not a problem.
📌 Always provide a clear Letter of Explanation explaining why the NOC was updated.

Accuracy matters more than sticking to an incorrect NOC code.

Can a part-time job support a spouse for a Dependent Spouse Open Work Permit (DSOWP)?

Yes, a part-time job can still qualify. What matters is not whether the job is part-time or full-time, but whether the income is sufficient to support the family size.

For a family of 2, IRCC looks at the overall financial situation and whether the principal applicant can reasonably cover living expenses for both spouses.

Every case is different, and proper documentation is key.

Starting June 9, 2026, IRCC is introducing a temporary measure that could help PNP applicants who are waiting for their AOR.

If you have already submitted your PR application under a PNP stream but have not yet received your Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR), IRCC may now accept alternative proof of PR submission for:

✅ PNP Employer-Specific Work Permits (T13)
✅ PNP Bridging Open Work Permits (A75)
✅ Eligible Spousal Open Work Permits

This change is designed to help applicants affected by lengthy R10 completeness checks and prevent unnecessary work permit refusals.

If you're a PNP applicant waiting for your AOR, this update could be very important for you.

Many Express Entry applicants in skilled trades don’t realize that the number of points awarded depends on the combination of their CoQ and language results. A small mistake in understanding the requirements can cost valuable CRS points.

Before submitting your profile, make sure you’re maximizing every point you’re entitled to claim.

Need help reviewing your Express Entry profile or CRS score?
