🇨🇦 Canada is fast-tracking some proof of citizenship applications for people planning to study in Canada. Eligible applicants may be able to receive their citizenship certificate in time for their upcoming semester.

✨ Here’s what applicants should know:

🎓 Education can qualify for urgent processing 📄 A cover letter requesting urgent processing is required 🏫 Proof of acceptance from a Canadian school may be needed 💰 A tuition summary can be included as supporting evidence ⏳ Regular processing has reached about 25 months ⚠️ Urgent processing is not guaranteed

📌 For eligible students, getting proof of citizenship sooner may also help with access to domestic tuition rates.

🇫🇷 Speak French? Your Express Entry chances may have just improved! Canada’s latest French-language Express Entry draw recorded the lowest CRS cut-off for this category since March 2025, making it an important development for French-speaking candidates.

✨ French-language proficiency is one of IRCC’s category-based selection areas, allowing eligible candidates in the Express Entry pool to be invited through draws specifically targeting strong French skills. This means qualifying French-speaking candidates may have access to targeted selection opportunities even when CRS cut-offs in other Express Entry draws are higher.

🇨🇦 Ontario has introduced a new scoring system for candidates applying through the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream. Eligible candidates can receive up to 130 points, with the highest-ranking profiles prioritized for invitations. The stream includes pathways for TEER 0–3 workers, TEER 4–5 workers and self-employed physicians.

✨ Points may be awarded for:

📍 Ontario work location 💼 Occupation and skill level 💰 Hourly wage 🎓 Education and Canadian credentials 🗣️ English and French proficiency 📄 Ontario work experience and valid status

🇨🇦 Canada has paused new applications under the Parents and Grandparents Program until further notice. This means no new interest to sponsor forms or invitations are being accepted right now, but applications already submitted will continue to be processed.

✨Here’s what families should know:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 No new invitations until further notice
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Existing applications will continue processing

🇨🇦 New Brunswick has extended a student pathway to permanent residence for eligible international graduates. The Private Career College Graduate Pilot may help certain graduates from eligible programs at Oulton College and Eastern College move toward PR, especially those who are not eligible for a federal PGWP.

✨Here’s what students should know:

🎓 Pilot extended until December 31, 2027 🎓 Applies to select healthcare and child education programs 
🎓 Eligible graduates need a full-time job offer 🎓 Job offer must be related to their program 
🎓 Candidates must intend to live and work in New Brunswick 🎓 Some nominees may apply for work authorization while PR is processing

📌 This extension gives eligible students more time to graduate, secure a qualifying job offer, and explore a pathway to permanent residence.

🇨🇦 Canada has issued new Express Entry invitations for physicians with Canadian work experience, as part of a targeted pathway to help eligible medical doctors move toward permanent residence and retain healthcare talent already working in the country. Physicians generally need at least 1 year of full-time Canadian work experience as a medical doctor within the last 3 years to qualify.

🇨🇦 Ontario has launched three new pathways to permanent residence under its new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream. This is the first phase of Ontario’s immigration program overhaul after the province retired its old PR pathways earlier this year.

✨Here’s what changed:

✅ New TEER 0–3 pathway for higher-skilled workers ✅ New TEER 4–5 pathway for lower-skilled workers ✅ New pathway for self-employed physicians ✅ Job offers are required for TEER 0–3 and TEER 4–5 ✅ Old applications will still be processed under the old rules ✅ New EOIs must wait until the system reopens

📌 Ontario says the new EOI system is expected to open later this summer.

🩺 More pathways are also expected in phase two, including healthcare, entrepreneurs, and exceptional talent.

🇨🇦 Canada has paused new citizenship by descent approvals while certain already-issued certificates are being reviewed. Some approved applicants were asked to return their citizenship certificates after their file was marked as “under review.”

✨Here’s what we know:

✅ New approvals are paused ✅ Some certificates are under review ✅ Approved citizens can keep their status for now ✅ Some certificates are being revalidated ✅ Proof of Canadian lineage may now face stricter review
📄 Applicants may need stronger documents from original source authorities.

🇨🇦 Canada is making it easier for hosts to meet the income requirement when inviting parents or grandparents to Canada through the Super Visa. The Super Visa allows eligible parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time, with status for up to 10 years.

✨Under the new rules:

✅ Income from either of the last 2 tax years may be accepted ✅ A parent or grandparent’s income may help support the calculation ✅ Applications already in process will also be assessed under the new rules ✅ Families who qualified under the old rules will still remain eligible
