This latest occupation-focused round prioritized candidates working in sectors connected to health, child care, construction, and veterinary services.

🛠️ Construction candidates needed a valid SkilledTradesBC certificate or a registered apprenticeship related to their job offer.

👶 Child care candidates needed a valid 1-year or 5-year ECE Certificate issued by the ECE Registry.

🐾 Veterinary selections included eligible veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

📊 This was B.C.’s 7th occupation-specific draw of 2026, as the province continues targeting workers in priority areas.

🇨🇦 Ontario is expanding Practice Ready Ontario (PRO), a faster licensing pathway for eligible internationally trained physicians who want to practise family medicine in the province. Instead of completing a traditional two-year residency, qualified physicians can complete a 12-week clinical field assessment.

💰 The federal government is providing $20 million to expand the program

👨‍⚕️ The funding is expected to support 200 internationally trained physicians

⏱️ Eligible physicians may be able to become licensed through PRO in under 1 year, compared with a typical 3–5 year route

🇫🇷 A dedicated stream will also support French-speaking physicians

📍 The program is aimed at improving access to care in rural, northern, and Francophone communities across Ontario

📋 Applicants must be Canadian permanent residents or citizens and meet education, work experience, and language requirements

🩺 Physicians licensed through PRO must complete a 3-year return of service agreement in Ontario

📊 This was the 18th CEC draw of 2026
🍁 So far this year, CEC draws have issued 57,250 invitations
📅 Candidates needed an Express Entry profile created before September 21, 2026 at 7:00:47 p.m. UTC

📄 Eligible applicants in Canada may also qualify for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP)
after submitting their PR application

🇭🇹 Haitians affected by the end of U.S. protected status may have another option to explore through Canada’s Express Entry system. 🇨🇦 French-speaking applicants can benefit from extra CRS points and dedicated French-language draws, which may improve their chances of receiving an invitation for permanent residence.

💼 The Federal Skilled Worker Program may be an option for those with at least 1 year of eligible skilled work experience and who meet the program’s other requirements

📚 Applicants may also need an approved language test, education assessment (ECA),
and settlement funds

📍 Express Entry candidates must intend to settle outside Quebec

⏳ After receiving an invitation, applicants have 60 days to submit their complete PR application. About 78% of Express Entry PR applications were processed within 6 months or less from Aug. 2025–July 2026, although processing times can vary.

➡️ Select Temporary Residence
➡️ Choose Work Permit Extension in Canada
➡️ Enter/select your application date to see your estimated remaining wait time

👥 You can also see how many applicants are ahead of you and how many applications are still awaiting decisions.

📊 As of September 26, approximately 202,900 applications were waiting for a decision.

🏘️ Happy Valley-Goose Bay is the largest town in Newfoundland and Labrador’s Labrador region, with a population of 8,040 recorded in the 2021 Census. For many residents in Newfoundland and Labrador, completing immigration biometrics currently means travelling to St. John’s — roughly 900 km by air or 1,600 km by car and ferry.

🇨🇦 Starting January 2027, Canada plans to open a new biometrics collection site in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, making this important immigration step much more accessible for people living across Newfoundland and Labrador.

🖐️ Biometrics = fingerprints + photograph
📄 Used by IRCC to confirm an applicant’s identity
✈️ Required for many visitor visa, study permit, work permit and permanent residence applications

📍 The new location means many applicants in Newfoundland and Labrador will no longer need to make the long trip to St. John’s just to complete their biometrics.
