💧 On your water bill, but based on your roof! Mississauga’s stormwater charge isn’t tied to how much tap water you use. Did you know?

💧 Why is your roof part of your water bill?
In Mississauga, rain and melting snow run off roofs and other hard surfaces into the drainage system. Maintaining that system costs money—that’s what the stormwater charge helps cover.
For detached homes, semis and freehold townhouses, the City uses rooftop-size tiers to calculate this charge. Your roof size helps estimate how much runoff your property creates.
So conserving tap water can reduce your water-use charges, but it won’t lower the stormwater portion of your bill.
