A process server is a person who serves legal documents upon an opposing party. Many people wonder why, for what seems like something a postman can do, they should pay a fee to a process server for service of their documents. The main reason is the documents must be served in exact accordance with the legislation in the area of service. This may mean handing the documents to the defendant personally, sub-serving to someone in the same household or business, affixing documents in a prominent location, or even service on a person’s legal representative.
