📢 STEM Draws & Express Entry in 2025 – Key Updates
If you are a STEM professional (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) considering immigration to Canada, here’s what you need to know about 2025:
🔹 No STEM Draws in 2025
So far, IRCC has not held any STEM-specific draws this year. The 2025 Immigration Levels Plan confirmed that STEM is not a priority category for 2025, with focus shifting toward healthcare, trades, and French proficiency.
🔹 STEM Draw History
• 2023: 2 draws, totaling 32,106 invitations (21% of all ITAs).
• 2024: 1 draw, totaling 13,749 invitations (14% of all ITAs).
• 2025: No STEM draws to date.
🔹 Why No STEM Draws?
IRCC continues to invite STEM professionals primarily through CEC and PNP draws instead of dedicated STEM rounds.
🔹 Looking Ahead
The good news: IRCC’s recent 2025 consultations suggest STEM is expected to return as a priority category in 2026.
🔹 What STEM Candidates Should Do
• Outside Canada: Focus on maximizing your CRS score to stay competitive when STEM draws return.
• Inside Canada: Continue leveraging CEC and PNP opportunities, where many STEM candidates are still receiving invitations.
📈 With the pause in STEM draws, if they return in 2026, CRS cut-offs may be higher than previous years (likely above 500).
At Megan Immigration, we are here to guide professionals — whether inside or outside Canada — on the best strategies to strengthen their profiles and improve their chances of success.
