.anders and I have had amazing week in paradise. We have loved every minute of our favourite place, Maui. While I have worked a few hours every morning to ensure closings and other files move along, it sure has been nice to spend some quality time with my family. I am looking forward to a full slate of client meetings and closings next week. Aloha! 🏖️

The last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind. It started with a last minute trip to the World Series. After a very quick 48 hours in Toronto - for what was a disappointing but incredible couple of days, I flew down to Miami to meet my family, most of my siblings and their families, my parents and grandparents, and my uncle and his family for a cruise and a few days in Florida.

We sailed the Independence of the Seas. 7 nights and 3 ports. Puerto Rico, St Martin, and CocoCay. The ship was perfect for our young kids, with their own waterpark, ice skating and entertainment. Simone, my oldest daughter, like me, is now in love with “big boats”. I am excited for more cruises in the future.

Traveling with my brother in laws and uncle meant late nights and some time spent playing basketball and dodgeball. “The Big Dogs” did not disappoint and quickly became fan favourites in the competitions. We even took home some hardware.

The last few days we spent touring southern Florida. A Dolphins and Heat game, a beach day and some much needed rest. The highlight of the trip was the 15 passenger “party bus” that we toured around in. It was so much fun.

It is not always easy to leave the grind that the practice of law can be. I am especially grateful to work with a team that prioritizes a work life balance and picking each other up when someone is away. I have amazing partners who work incredibly hard, but always put our families and relationships first. Thank you to my clients and the professionals I work with who also appreciate the value in a little break.

I am feeling refreshed and recharged and ready to hit the ground running tomorrow morning. I look forward to a full schedule of client meetings and closing more deals in the days to come!

Being a real estate lawyer is like driving a 15-passenger van on a family vacation. 🚐 You’re responsible for getting everyone — buyers, sellers, lenders, agents, inspectors, and insurance companies — safely to the destination: closing day. Every passenger has their own agenda, questions, and occasional panic moments, but you’re the one steering through the traffic of contracts, deadlines, and legal details. One wrong turn can delay the whole trip, but when everyone arrives and the keys change hands, it’s worth it. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s steady hands, patience, and trust that make the journey smooth.
