The decisions made inside the Alberta Legislature directly impact your everyday rights and safety. The government is pushing forward with a transition to "Care-First" no-fault auto insurance on January 1, 2027—a model that hands control over your medical recovery to private insurance companies and takes away your right to a fair day in court.

It is not a done deal. Your local MLA was elected to represent you, not insurance industry lobbyists.

They need to know that Albertans won't accept a system that trades our fundamental civil rights for corporate profits.

Take 60 seconds to make your voice heard today:
1. Click the link below.
2. Send an automated message directly to your local MLA's office.
3. Tell them to stop the transition to no-fault auto insurance.

⚠️ BREAKING: The Alberta government has released draft regulations for its proposed no fault auto insurance system, and they are ALARMING.

The new regulations include what’s called a “meat chart,” a government issued table that assigns fixed dollar values to severe injuries.

Under the proposed rules, a pregnant woman who loses her baby in a crash would get $13,000.

A young journeyman mechanic who loses part of his hand and can never work in his trade again would get $41,000.

This is what Alberta’s no-fault plan really means: $13,000 for losing a baby.

🚨 No-Fault Won’t Save You Money 🚨

The Alberta government sold its Care First plan with the promise of $400 in savings on your auto insurance.

So, if there are no savings, why should Albertans give up their rights to hold bad drivers and insurance companies accountable?

FAIR Alberta Response to Bill 47: The Insurance Industry Wins — Albertans Lose

Today, the Alberta government sided with billion-dollar insurance companies over everyday Albertans.

The introduction of Bill 47, the so-called Automobile Insurance Act, is the start of a no-fault insurance system that will take away your right to sue a reckless driver, challenge your insurer in court, or be fairly compensated after a crash — even if it wasn’t your fault.

This is a dream come true for insurance executives. It’s a nightmare for Alberta consumers.

FAIR Alberta has warned for months: no-fault means less accountability, fewer protections, and more power for the insurance industry.

Under Bill 47:
-You can’t sue unless the at-fault driver is criminally convicted.
-Insurance companies decide what care you need.
-If they get it wrong, you have to fight them in a tribunal
-Your options for accountability are eliminated, and your voice silenced.

Albertans deserve affordable insurance - but not at the cost of our rights, our freedoms, and our ability to get real justice. The government promised “better, faster, cheaper” — but what we’re getting is less, slower, and stacked against us.

This system doesn’t punish bad drivers. It protects them. It doesn’t hold insurers accountable. It hands them the pen to rewrite the rules.

FAIR Alberta will continue to advocate to put consumers first.

🚗 Unmasking Care First: Alberta's No-Fault System

Alberta’s proposed ‘Care First’ no-fault auto insurance system could have serious and lasting consequences for Albertans—and we’re here to break it all down in our new series, Unmasking Care First: Alberta's No-Fault System

This system shifts compensation responsibility from the at-fault driver's insurance company to your own insurance company, and removes your ability to sue at-fault drivers. It rewards bad drivers and leaves injured individuals to navigate a system controlled by insurers. Sound unfair? You’re not alone.

❗ In British Columbia, a no-fault system introduced in 2021 has been a nightmare for individuals seeking fair compensation. What’s worse, polls show the majority of Albertans oppose no-fault insurance for these exact reasons.

We’ll be explaining what this change means for you, your family, and your rights, while also showing you how to take action to stop this shift.

📢 Follow along with Unmasking Care First: Alberta's No-Fault System and visit FAIRAB.ca to learn more, get involved, and join the fight to protect fairness in Alberta’s auto insurance system.

Stay tuned—we’re just getting started. 💡

No-Fault auto insurance is a lose-lose scenario for Albertans.

11/22/2024

🚨 BREAKING: No-Fault Insurance in Alberta 🚨
The Alberta government is moving to implement a no-fault auto insurance system. What does this mean for you?

❌ Loss of Rights and Freedoms: Say goodbye to the right to sue and holding at-fault drivers accountable.
💵 Higher Costs: You’ll pay more in premiums but get less protection.
⚖️ Less Justice: Fewer rights for Albertans, more power for insurance companies.

This is a win for insurers and a loss for Albertans. We’ll keep raising our voice to stand up for consumers.
