We’re pleased to announce the launch of Southern Alberta Mediation Arbitration (SAMA), a new private dispute resolution service for family law matters across Southern Alberta.
SAMA is a division of HDP Law, created to support recent changes within Alberta’s family justice system and to provide flexible options for families who prefer to resolve disputes privately, outside of court.

SAMA offers mediation, arbitration, and integrated dispute resolution services that support matters proceeding under the Court of King’s Bench Family Focused Protocol, as well as fully private resolution pathways. These services are designed to be proportionate, court-informed, and responsive to the needs of families and counsel.

So - our office is moving shortly to 200 -3rd Street South - with a significant investment being made to improve the property.
The City of Lethbridge has spent massively on creating and implementing the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan - ostensibly to (quoting from the DARP) revitalize and encourage residents to see downtown as the cultural, economic and civic heart of the city…
They are now it appears considering an application to rezone property across the street from our new ofiice as “Direct Control” - meaning basically whatever the city is willing to allow.. specifically
“..to allow for shelter, resource center and supportive housing.”
Following up on the significant tax increases, we will now watch with interest the counsel and Mayor we elected decide whether to support the DARP and downtown businesses - or put yet further hardships in their way by allowing for arbitrary rezoning contrary to the Plan and the needs of a downtown already struggling post-covid.
