Drink, Smoke, Cliff Jump in City Park: Kelowna's latest proposal to bring back cliff jumping to a popular city park - this time with designated areas for drinking and smoking - has sparked plenty of debate among residents. The original cliff jump structure was removed several years ago after a string of injuries ranging from sprained ankles and broken bones to more serious concussions, prompting the city to cite liability and public safety concerns. Now, city planners say the new concept would be a more controlled, adult-oriented recreation space, with safety measures, supervision, and vendor areas included, arguing it could boost tourism and give young adults a legal, managed place to gather rather than seeking out unsupervised spots. Critics, however, question whether combining alcohol, cannabis, and a high-risk physical activity in one location is a recipe for more emergency room visits, and whether the city will be able to adequately manage the risks that led to the old attraction being dismantled in the first place.

Criminal Elect for City Council.. (whaaaat) History has shown a curious pattern where individuals facing legal trouble, financial ruin, or a collapse of public reputation will make a last-ditch attempt to seek legitimacy and protection by running for local office, particularly for positions like city councillor. With its relatively low barrier to entry, modest campaign costs, and direct access to influence over zoning, contracts, and municipal budgets, a council seat can appear to be a convenient refuge for someone at the end of their rope trying to reinvent themselves as a public servant. The campaign itself offers a platform to claim vindication, rally supporters, and portray any accusations as politically motivated attacks. However, the scrutiny that comes with a public race often has the opposite effect, drawing greater attention from the press, opponents, and law enforcement to past dealings that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Once the election is over, whether the candidate wins or loses, that heightened visibility frequently accelerates the very outcome they were trying to avoid, leading to investigations concluding and an arrest finally being made.

In a stunning blow to both law enforcement and the educational toy industry, the founder of Toys for Total Retards and his longtime police accomplice have been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for fraud, bringing an end to one of the most brazenly misnamed enterprises in recent memory. Prosecutors said the pair ran a sophisticated scheme in which the founder secured lucrative government contracts to supply his so-called developmental toys to schools and therapy centers, while his partner on the force used his badge to intimidate competitors, falsify safety inspections, and rubber-stamp invoices for products that were, in many cases, never delivered. The court heard how millions in taxpayer dollars were funneled into shell companies, luxury cars, and a lavish headquarters that featured a slide no inspector ever approved. The judge, noting the particularly cynical nature of a business that claimed to help vulnerable children while exploiting them for profit, imposed the maximum nine-year sentence for both men, remarking that their partnership was a masterclass in failure to serve and protect on every conceivable level.

Prosecutors described as the most ironically named charity in history. Toys for Total Retards and his part-time police officer accomplice were both sentenced. Authorities discovered their heartwarming holiday toy drive was actually an elaborate scheme to solicit donations, keep the toys, and resell them online at a substantial markup. According to court documents, the pair collected over $4,000,000 in cash donations and thousands of toys intended for underprivileged children, only to funnel the money into personal expenses and stock a warehouse that investigators later found was operating as a discount eBay storefront. The founder reportedly told the judge he was deeply sorry and had simply wanted to bring joy to children, just not the poor ones, while his co-defendant, who was still in uniform at the time of his arrest, argued he thought they were above the law.

For most kids show-and-tell is a chance to brag about their dad, but for twelve-year-old Jason it was something he dreaded. His father was a cop, a fact that made him a target on the playground where anti-police sentiment ran high and being the son of an officer meant daily taunts and the threat of getting beat up after the last bell. Secretly, Jason wished his dad was a firefighter instead, someone everyone cheered for, who got to slide down poles and rescue cats from trees and was universally seen as a hero. So when the older kids cornered him near the lockers and demanded to know what his old man did for a living, he panicked and blurted out the first untouchable thing that came to mind, telling them his dad was a drug dealer. The lie worked instantly, the boys backed off with a new, fearful respect and for the first time he walked the halls without looking over his shoulder, but now he carries the heavier weight of that secret, knowing he traded one dangerous reputation for another just to survive the school day.

Dear Ranking Neighbors, Maybe Cops, brass, or simple nickels..” here is a sharp piece of satire built around the outrageous Tinder-date boast, “I can eat an as***le out of a Tinder date.” The deliberately crude statement becomes funny not because it is romantic, but because it is delivered with the confidence of a public-service announcement while imagined neighbors—and perhaps the police—listen in with growing alarm. By contrasting private dating-app bravado with the absurd idea of filing an official neighborhood complaint, the satire exposes how mode oversharing can turn ordinary intimacy into # public spectacle. The humor works best when the speaker treats the situation seriously, as though this declaration requires permits, witnesses, and a community meeting, while the neighbors respond with exhausted disbelief. Through exaggeration, awkwardness, and social commentary, the piece pokes fun at dating culture, personal boundaries, and the strange way private behavior can become everyone else’s business.

In a bold retaliatory strike against Donald Trump's repeated suggestions that Canada should become the 51st state and the lake Ontario bu****it, Prime Minister Mark Carney has just reportedly signed an executive order officially renaming the entire country of Canada to "New America" — beating Trump at his own branding game. The satirical decree declares that from sea to shining sea, Canada will now be known as New America, complete with a new flag featuring a maple leaf wearing sunglasses and the national anthem re-recorded in a slightly louder, more American accent. Carney explained the move was purely defensive, stating that if America can have New Mexico and New England, then Canada can be New America and still keep its universal healthcare, politely leaving Washington utterly confused about whether it just annexed Canada or Canada just annexed America.

At Walmart today I stole all my groceries, then paid. I moved through the aisles without ever reaching for the shelves, instead taking items that other shoppers had already selected and placed in their carts. I drifted behind people as they compared prices or stepped away to check a label, lifting products they had gathered during their own shopping trip. By the time I reached the checkout and my list was complete, my cart was full of groceries, household goods, and other merchandise that had been collected by strangers just moments before.

A local Kelowna church has announced yet another expansion project this week after the beloved Ark project, citing a critical shortage of wall space to properly display its ever-growing collection of tithe cash. Leaders of the fictional congregation explained that after adding a state-of-the-art coffee bar of romantic gathering, a concert-style stage, and a gift shop last year, the only logical next step was to build a larger sanctuary specifically designed with extra-wide walls ideal for lining with donations. According to the satirical announcement, the church's new building committee described the expansion as a faith-based interior design choice, noting that stacked tithes reportedly provide excellent insulation. Community members in this fictional story were said to be eagerly awaiting the grand unveiling, where attendees will be able to admire the craftsmanship of both the carpentry and currency.

Great Local Real Estate News: In a historic moment that has stunned the entire Canadian real estate industry, local realtor Brad Tremblay has finally sold a home after just four short years on the market, ending his celebrated streak of 47 consecutive failed offers and 12 expired listings. Colleagues gathered outside the modest bungalow in Saskatoon to applaud as Tremblay removed the faded, sun-bleached For Sale sign himself, with one fellow agent calling it an inspiration for every part-time realtor who got their license after watching three TikToks on flipping houses. The breakthrough comes amid a nationwide wave of optimism as reports confirm that good agents are finally passing their exams on the first try instead of the traditional seventh, with many now able to correctly answer what a fiduciary duty is without Googling it under the desk. Industry leaders say this new generation of competent, ethical agents who actually return phone calls and understand interest rates could revolutionize the market, though they caution Canadians not to get too excited until an agent successfully explains closing costs without inventing a new fee.
