Our associate lawyer, Braden Adsett, recently co-chaired a panel discussion at the Hamilton Law Association mediation roundtable on the importance of mediation in today’s litigation landscape.

It was a valuable discussion on the role mediation continues to play in resolving disputes efficiently and effectively, and we are proud to see Braden contributing to the conversation alongside other members of the legal community.

Thank you to the Hamilton Law Association for hosting this important event.

The 24th Annual Sopinka Legal Luncheon, in support of United Way Halton & Hamilton, brought together members of our legal community for an inspiring afternoon celebrating leadership, service, and community impact.

This year’s guest of honour, the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, shared powerful reflections on justice, compassion, and the enduring legacy of the late Justice John Sopinka.

Erica Lamont, had the privilege of hosting Justice McLachlin on stage for an engaging conversation that reminded us all of the strength and responsibility of our profession.

Together, the Sopinka Committee and guests raised an extraordinary $461,000 to support those in need across our community.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to another record-breaking year and to the United Way team for their continued leadership and dedication.

The donation campaign continues throughout the year so please consider donating! Link in bio.

Last weekend, the Lamont Law team proudly joined hundreds at Bayfront Park for the 7th annual Step Up for Wayside; an inspiring event supporting Wayside House of Hamilton and its life-changing recovery programs for men.

For nearly 60 years, Wayside has helped fathers, sons, brothers, and friends find their way back to purposeful, sober lives through education, treatment, and aftercare.

It was an honour to stand alongside so many community partners and supporters helping raise nearly $60,000 to expand Wayside’s reach; bringing hope to even more men who deserve a second chance.

As our own Erica Lamont shared with CHCH News:

“I love their messaging. They support sobriety and recovery for men.”

Join us in supporting Wayside for progress, compassion, and a stronger Hamilton.

At Lamont Law, we believe that being part of the legal profession means more than representing clients — it means showing up for our community.

Our associate lawyer, Braden Adsett, is featured in the latest Hamilton Law Association Journal, highlighting one of our city’s most important legal traditions — the Sopinka United Way Legal Luncheon.

Established in 2001 to honour Justice John Sopinka, this annual event has raised over $3 million for programs that support vulnerable individuals across Halton & Hamilton.

This year on November 13, 2025, we welcome The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, Canada’s longest-serving Chief Justice, as keynote speaker.

Lamont Law is proud to support this worthy cause.

We recently presented to the nurses at the Brantford General Hospital about how to avoid negligence.

We highlighted the importance of accurate charting and other tips to prevent litigation.

It was a great opportunity to interact with our frontline workers that provide such an important service in our community.

Mary Graziano, my “Mar-Bear”, a beloved member of our firm, passed away peacefully this past Saturday with her family by her side.

Mary was a perfectionist. She was often the first person in and the last out at the end of the day.

She was a numbers gal who meticulously reviewed disbursements and accounts to ensure everything was in order.

We will miss her beyond measure and will continue to honour her legacy of detail oriented excellence.

Mary’s family has expressed that in lieu of flowers, donations are to be made in Mary’s honour to a charity of your choice.

Lamont Law will be donating to the United Way Halton & Hamilton and to the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, both organizations that Mary had supported in the past.

In honour of Mary, Lamont Law will match donations up to $100 to any charity of your choice. DM us, email us at [email protected] or comment below with your charity and donation amount.

We love you Mary!

Leaving your home for a few days? You could be voiding your insurance without realizing it.

Home insurance policies often contain hidden exclusions that apply when your home is left unattended — even for as little as 4 days.

Here’s what most people don’t know:

Many policies won’t cover burst pipe damage during winter if no one checks the home daily.

Coverage for vandalism, water damage, or break-ins may be denied if your home is considered “vacant.”

Even if you're just staging your home for sale, you could lose coverage after 30 days.

These rules vary by insurer — but the risks are real.

Planning a vacation? Changing homes? Selling your property?
Make sure you understand how your policy defines vacancy and what it means for your coverage.

If you've been denied a claim after damage, we can help.
