Often times do not have the resources to hire a private representative. These are then forced to wait years for the Office of the Worker Advisor OWA to decide if the OWA will represent them or not. This is not the fault of the OWA, as they have been intentionally underfunded for decades.
To attempt to aid some representatives take on cases on a contingency basis or commonly known as a percentage basis, or you dont pay us if we don't win.
In order for these representatives to take on such cases they must perform a review.. The purpose of a review is for the representative to minimize their risk of loss. Many cases just unfortunately can not be won for one reason or another.
We at Paul's Paralegal take on these cases at a rate of 30%.
However, before we do, we must always perform a review. A review, among other thibgs, is to determine if your case is viable for us to take on, whether it is not monetary based then there is no point, or if there is no significant amount to be awarded to you.
For example, if you were appealing a healthcare benefit. Then if you won, it would likely not result in any great award of monies. Also if you won and were only entitled to a small amount. Again it would not be viable.
It is important to note that we only consider a percentage fee on any lump sum amounts awarded to you. We do not take any fees from future awards of benefits.
