I’ve written a letter, I’m so done with this!!!
Please everyone, please write in to your councillors, the mayor! All of them.
This was all I could pull from our video. I work from home and sit the backyard at lunch. The exchange was not pretty between he and I, as scared as I was.
Good Afternoon,
Well, it’s not really a good afternoon as I was approached by a trespasser in my backyard. I’m female and was home alone, I’m not a petite individual yet I felt compromised and afraid, however unwilling to step down I yelled at the trespasser to get off my property.
Not to make assumptions, yet I would hazard a guess based on his dishevelled appearance and his backpack he is one of the ever increasing local encampment people that have taken hold of Strachan and James Street North. An area that I will not walk in alone any longer, the gateway to our waterfront which is now no longer safe for the residents that reside here or the guests to our city that are visiting the Pier.
How would you feel if you were home alone and someone approached you in your backyard in the middle of the day, broad daylight?
How would YOU FEEL?
When is this problem going to be resolved? When are we going to feel safe again? When will a rule of law be upheld in our city? Right now I feel as if Hamilton has no leadership and nothing is being done, I don’t feel that there is anyone there to protect our rights as the tax paying citizens but the people living in encampments, trespassing on our properties, stealing from us….. right now I feel like they have all the rights. I am not alone in this, I am not the only one that feels unsafe in their own home, in their own backyard and in their own neighbourhood.
Where is the accountability, where are the answers for this problem?
I would appreciate a response AND some answers to this ongoing, ever increasing problem.
Regards,
