Some of my favourite clips from yesterday’s SailGP adventure.

Massive thanks to my boy for an amazing Father's Day treat. A picnic, a cold beer, Georges Island, and front-row seats to the racing without the crowds. Doesn't get much better than that. A brilliant day from start to finish.

Cheers Halifax, you were amazing!

Hope all the dads had a great Father's Day too!

Friday late afternoon. Most people are winding down for the weekend, and I’m just getting started. 🏃‍♂️

Ironman training waits for no one.

Meanwhile, Coach Jane is pouring herself a glass of wine and planning next week’s training. God help me 🤦🏻‍♂️

**** HRM Release

Municipality welcomes SailGP participants

The Halifax Regional Municipality is looking forward to hosting the SailGP Rockwool Canada Sail Grand Prix.

Over 1,000 athletes, team members and families will make their way to the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts for the sailing competition, taking place from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21. The municipality shares host venue partner status with the Province of Nova Scotia and Sail Nova Scotia.

Residents should anticipate increased traffic congestion around the downtown area during this time and are asked to plan accordingly.

Residents are encouraged to watch the competition for free along the Halifax waterfront. Paid opportunities for viewing are also available provided by various vendors.

Argyle Street will be closed between Carmichael and Prince streets each evening to accommodate free post-race concerts from 6 to 10:30 p.m. For more information, visit: downtownhalifax.ca/sailgp.

During the competition, Halifax Transit’s Alderney and Woodside ferry service will be paused daily from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Shuttle bus service between Woodside (Friday only), Alderney and Water Street terminals will replace ferry service during this time.

Thinking of moving this year?

One of the biggest decisions you’ll face is whether to buy first or sell first.

My latest guide breaks down the pros and cons of each approach and what I’m seeing in today’s Halifax market, so you can make the best decision for your situation.

And as always, if you’d like to chat about your plans, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to help. (902) 489-1804

Wondering if the Halifax market is finally slowing down?

Not based on what we’re seeing.

This has been the busiest first half of the year since COVID. Buyers are active, well-priced homes are still moving quickly, and inspectors, well/water testing and septic inspectors are often booked a week or more in advance.

The rental market is showing a slightly different story, however.

Halifax’s apartment vacancy rate has increased to 2.7%, and average rents are still rising (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation)

So while some headlines suggest things are cooling off, we’re still seeing plenty of activity across Halifax and surrounding communities.

Thinking about buying, selling, or investing and wondering what’s really happening in your area?

Send me a message or book a 30 minute Discovery Call to chat in more detail (link in bio). Happy to answer all your questions and properly guide you.

Our three did these programs every summer growing up and we’d highly recommend them. Great confidence builders, lots of fun, and a big part of summer for many Halifax families.

Back in 2007, as skilled workers looking to build a new life in Canada, we could have chosen anywhere.

We spent over two years researching provinces, cities, lifestyles, schools, jobs, communities… and after a quick visit, we chose Halifax.

And honestly? We’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Is it perfect? No. Nowhere is. Like pretty much everywhere, the cost of living has gone up over the years, the city has grown quickly, and we still get asked why we chose Halifax over bigger cities and other provinces.

But for us, this place delivered exactly what we were looking for:
A better lifestyle.
A strong sense of community.
Nature on our doorstep.
A great place to raise a family.
And four proper seasons (even if winter hangs around a bit too long sometimes).

We made it work. Halifax became home. And 2007 turned out to be a pretty good year.

If you’re thinking about moving to Nova Scotia and wondering what life here is really like, feel free to reach out. Always happy to help.
