With climate change on everybody's mind this summer, our volunteers in Saint John wanted to do their part by organizing a shore cleanup at Black Beach in advance of the official happening across NB on Aug. 29, led by our good friends at the The Nature Trust of New Brunswick.

Together, our volunteers collected multiple large bags of refuse, including pet waste bags, bits of rope and plastic strapping, Styrofoam, glass bottles, and the ever present cigarette butts and lobster bands.

Thank you to our crew and to local residents who help steward the beach all year round.

Our sous chefs in St. John's were thrilled to return to The Gathering Place to help prep and serve another MC-sponsored breakfast.

We are ever humbled by TGP's commitment to shelter up to 90 people a night, feed more than 300 people a day, coordinate 400 case manager visits a month, and enable more than 10,000 loads of laundry a year.

Thank you for allowing us to contribute and for engaging our volunteers.

We are so of our volunteers who donated blood in today. We are also to Canadian Blood Services for always underscoring the importance if this service, and highlighting the constant need for more donors. I hope our regular donors will inspire others, because .

Blood supply decreased nearly 20% since June. Why? Donation routines slip during the summer — but the need for blood doesn’t take a summer vacation.

But there’s good news: you have what it takes to change this. No matter what your blood type is, we need more of you. So book a spot, bring a friend and spread the word.

A strong, healthy Canada depends on Canadians showing up for one another. Ready to fuel Canada’s supply? Donate now.

What a stellar day for impressive feats! Collectively, MC’s team rappelled 435 metres - five trips down 1801 Hollis Street - and raised $6,600 for Easter Seals Nova Scotia. Such courage for a great cause – programs, services & advocacy for people who live with disability. Congratulations to our accessibility superheroes Amy, Jane, Nadine, Sarah & ESNS Board member Tarah, and many thanks to all who contributed to this important campaign.

As we approach the end of another stellar summer team, we reflect with pride on our law students’ record-breaking season of giving. In the past three months, 27 students in seven MC offices organized a dozen community impact projects that generated more than $20K for important causes and valued partners. There were softball and volleyball tournaments; lawn bowling and golf putting; trivia and micro challenges; raffles and donation drives, all in service of community. We commend our students and thank the charities that will direct proceeds to important services:

- John Howard Society of Fredericton
- Brigadoon Village
- Jane Paul Indigenous Women's Resource Centre
- SPCA Saint John
- Cystic Fibrosis Canada
- Peter McKee Community Food Centre
- Sexual Violence NB
- Ronald McDonald House Maritimes
- Blooming House
- Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton
- Single Parent Association on NL
- AIDS NB

Two weeks ago, we joined legal professionals from across the country at Prismeconference 2026, Canada's annual 2SLGBTQ+ law conference, hosted right here in Halifax.

We're proud to support Call-Acal in building an inclusive space to connect, learn, and advance 2SLGBTQ+ rights in the legal profession and beyond.

A special shout-out to our colleagues Josie Hunt, Keilani Tupper, and Nathan Stanley, who all presented at this year's conference. 👏

Yesterday, our volunteers in Saint John had a BIG morning helping to sort books for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint John coming up on August 28-30. Mark your calendars and plan to drop by TD Station. There are books in every genre, and all proceeds support life-changing youth mentoring experiences.
