It was a for our volunteers yesterday with two events happening simultaneously at McDonald House Maritimes and the RMHM Family Room in the Moncton Hospital.

In Halifax our members and alumni made 70 beautiful, bright and season fresh Mexican burrito bowls – half vegetarian and half with chicken.

In Moncton, our volunteers made rich and aromatic butter chicken/tofu with basmati rice and broccoli, naan and carrot sticks on the side, and homemade cookies for dessert.

Many thanks to families for sharing their kitchens with us and to our friends at Ronald McDonald House Maritimes for engaging our volunteers.

Recognizing our Make Change Champion for June: Halifax Law Analyst Rhea McGarva. A long-standing member of our labour and employment group, Rhea has spent 30 years mentoring colleagues, supporting students, and showing up for her community. From early involvement in shaping our CSR program to volunteering with local schools and organizations like Feed Nova Scotia, Ronald McDonald House, and the Canadian Mental Health Association, her impact spans decades. Her leadership also inspired our team’s participation in the CMHA Push-Up Challenge, helping grow it into a firm-wide effort.

Rhea consistently supports others through advocacy, mentorship, and everyday acts of kindness. Her influence continues to shape our culture and community.
Join us in congratulating Rhea!

Our MC Trail Trekkers are thrilled to have contributed to the success of this year's in support of the East Coast Trail. Uplifted by the spring sun, teams showed up with enthusiasm to help the East Coast Trail Assn. exceed their goal and raise an impressive $112K, which will be used to steward the incomparable 336km trail network located on Newfoundland's Avalon peninsula. Kudos to all who took part, and thanks to all who contributed.

We are so proud of our MC volunteers who took part in the McNabs Island shore cleanup yesterday. This was MC's 14th consecutive year supporting the annual event that has, since its inception, resulted in the removal of more than 16,750 bags of garbage and recyclables from the beaches of McNabs and Lawlor Islands Provincial Park. Thank you to Cathy and the Friends of McNabs Island Society for continuing to engage our members in this much-enjoyed volunteer activity. .

As we bring to close , we reflect on this year’s theme: “Building a Strong, Accessible Canada ”, and we acknowledge the ongoing effort made by our Access MC group to raise awareness and break down barriers in the workplace.

During , we engaged neurodivergence accessibility advocate Laura Fair, ABOUND Consulting, to educate our members; we raised awareness with disability simulations and sensory rooms; and we encouraged donations for Easter Seals Canada via their campaign.

Events like these teach us how to support our members equitably and to serve our clients with respect and dignity. And they represent MC’s long-term commitment raise awareness about barriers and improve accessibility in the workplace.

Special thanks to our good friends at CNIB for providing items used in our simulation events.
